Great to see a different spec. of Emira fulfilling the Safety Car role for the British GT Championship at Silverstone this weekend. Not road registered and fresh from the factory. V6 FE, LHD, Manual, Sports, PS Cup 2, Shadow Grey, Black Pack, Diamond Cut, Red Callipers, Tan Leather,. And the Safety Car driver says she loves it.
A nice little video on the history of design at Lotus:
Hethel, UK – 5 May 2022 Lotus has unveiled the all-new Emira GT4 race car on the iconic Hethel test track, with a dynamic demonstration of its thrilling performance. At an exclusive event earlier this week VIP guests were treated to passenger laps of the legendary 2.2-mile circuit with Gavan Kershaw, Director of Vehicle Attributes at Lotus and a former British GT Championship winner, at the wheel. The culmination of more than 70 years of innovation on the road and track, the Emira GT4 marks the start of an exciting new era in performance GT racing for Lotus. It is the first new model from Lotus Advanced Performance, the bespoke vehicle and experiential division of the business launched earlier this year. The return to world...
Hethel, UK – 4 May 2022 Lotus has officially opened its new sports car manufacturing facility at Hethel, naming it in honour of the company’s founder and inspiration. The Chapman Production Centre is a world-class centre of excellence that is already building the Emira, the last petrol-powered car from Lotus and best of breed. The ceremony was carried out by Matt Windle, Managing Director of Lotus Cars, and Clive Chapman, Managing Director of Classic Team Lotus and the son of Colin Chapman and Hazel Chapman, co-founders of Lotus. Also attending was Jane Payton, Clive’s sister, plus several hundred Lotus employees. Together with Lotus Advanced Structures (LAS), Lotus’ new sub-assembly facility in Norwich, the Chapman Production Centre...
Lotus is teasing a mysterious new model that debuts on May 5. The brief video is just 13 seconds long and never actually gives us a good look at the vehicle. At the end, two rows of portions of letters are visible. The upper ones appear to spell Emira, but the other word isn't distinguishable. Continue Reading @ Motor1
I have just made the switch to Nimbus from DV before my lock-in deadline. Always wanted a BRG British sports car, but DV just isn't BRG...too dark for me and I really want to see those curves in all light conditions. So The Emira will join the short list of TVR's, Noble, Aston, Alfa, Mazda and LR that I have owned in some form of silver. (the designers choice, and looks good even when filthy) Love the Magma too but the wife just doesn't want a red car. All other details remain. Told no change to delivery timeline
This is an interesting article on the KEF systems that will be used in the Emira and the Eletre. The Eletre system is bonkers. https://www.whathifi.com/us/news/23-speaker-kef-reference-system-unveiled-for-lotus-eletra-electric-suv
Just had my follow up email requesting finalisation of my spec before 6 May for a September build / October delivery. Was informed that this place me around a months worth of delay compared to their original estimation (which had never been conveyed to me anyway) I placed my deposit on 14 July last year. I have not been asked for a third deposit payment. I was told we would be contacted 30 days before delivery to discuss final payment and financing options. FWIW I rang customer services and was told that a change of colour would be unlikely to alter my delivery date (pondering a DV to Nimbus move) and the lady confirmed that test drives would likely only be available in late June or early July (still later than the designated...

Hethel, UK – 13 April 2022 The ongoing transformation of the Lotus global retail network continues apace, with showrooms worldwide now upgrading to the brand’s new visual identity. The UK, North America and mainland Europe now have sites fully installed with the new look, and more will follow in the coming months. The first Lotus showroom to integrate the new retail identity opened in the Kingdom of Bahrain last autumn. Sculptural and artistic in its execution, it draws directly on the company’s design and engineering prowess, capturing the energy of the brand as it transforms from a UK sports car company to a global performance car business and brand. In the UK, the first showroom to be completed is Lotus Exeter, a solus site...
