No more production after 2023

Article in the telegraph says petrol car production at Lotus will cease next year. So either he's got his facts wrong or its a bizarre decision from Geely

Which i suppose is correct , no more new models will be petrol , the Emira is an existing product.
It would make more sense, but doesn't seem to imply that. Otherwise why wouldnt you say
"Lotus to stop making new petrol car models from THIS year"

The title is click bait, the body of the article does nothing but reiterate what Lotus’ plans have been for the last 3 years. All new models going forward are electric, Emira is the last ICE Lotus and will be build for as long as the market and legislation will allow.

Similar article in Australia’s “Wheels” magazine, with the paragraph:

The Lotus model range of combustion engine-powered cars has recently been reduced to just the Emira, with the mid-engined sports car set to be its final non-electric mainstream model before it's replaced by the Type 135 from 2026.

The i4's multi-year run starts in 2023, likely the latter half. Higher power variants such as an "R" version hinted by Windle are to come after the FE and BE. Its lifespan has to be long enough to justify its new aluminum rear subframe bespoke to the i4 and partnership with AMG.
