Lotus Emira V6 ECU Tune - Bench Flash

Not good or bad. Just different. Maybe some additional emissions stuff.

Boss, some questions:
  • Since the valve acts depending on rpm I guess it would have a table controlling the opening positions too? Possible to tune this, say always open in track while tour stays OEM?
  • If there are tables, can you post a comparison sport vs track? Folks still argue track being louder, but it contradicts what my tech says and what I think to hear (besides the obvious increased idle rpm ofc)
  • FE Editions have +/- buttons on the steering wheel meant to control the ACC distance. ACC is not fitted on FE. Possible to remap the buttons to do something useful? Maybe switch maps / readline / valve control?

Different computer.

I didn't find a definitive source on the final drive ratios for the twin mainshaft, used what was out there.
From the EG Certificate
1st2nd3rd4th5th6th
3.5381.9131.4071.0910.96970.8611

Final drive
1st - 4th5th - 6th
3.7773.238

Excuse my ignorance, what does these numbers mean?
Assuming 3777 is missing a decimal point, then 6800 rpm/1.407 * wheel circumference*60/3.777 gives me 76 mph which is definitely too low.

Also, the final gear is different for 5th and 6th?

Those numbers are the gear ratios. The final drive is the reduction gear. EA60 has 2.

That didn’t help me. Is it correctly understood that x RPM in 6th get reduced to x/0.8611/3.238 at the wheel? The numbers don’t look right so I assume it is not correct.

I use this for gearing simulations: blocklayer.com/rpm-gear

Correct

The EA60 has two outputs, I heard something along the lines of it technically being two transmissions slapped together.
It's also slightly modified by Lotus IIRC

I just posted this because I think we calculated the ratios and compared to Evoras but never got a single confirmed source of the ratios. Looked at my EC Certificate today and noticed they were listed, so pretty reliable source I think

To calculate:
Speed (m/s) = (RPM / (Gear Ratio × Final Drive)) × Wheel Circumference / 60

For top speed:
6th Gear Ratio = 0.8611
Final Gear 6th = 3.238
Combined Ratio = 0.8611 × 3.238 = 2.788
Circumstance 295/30R20 = 2.152m
Speed = (6800 / 2.788) × 2.152 / 60 = 87.479m/s = 314,92km/h

Well... theoretical at least. From experience I got it to 284km/h and had no more space. Max speed listed is 290km/h.

Thanks that finally made sense once I realized that the circumference is a lovely mix of imperial and metric: π(295*30%*2+20”)

Just picked up my car after the ECU unlock and a 2.8 pulley installation. Pulls stronger across the entire power band, but I noticed it most on the low end. I really need to drive it more to get a better feel for it. The extra rpm's to redline and the extra time spent enjoying the glorious sound immediately had me smiling.

Where did you purchase the pulley kit from?

Any plans for a formal dyno test?

Griptec pulley (2.80" 7 Rib ZPE GripTec® 2pc Lotus 4 Bolt L3). Considering a dyno. I'll need to look into any tips or tricks on dyno'ing this car and then find a good local shop to do it. Would be nice to get one in case I do any more power mods in the future.

Most important thing is to drive the car for a few minutes on the dyno until the ABS light comes on. Takes 30-60 seconds. That will signal that you’re in test mode.

Good to know. Just checked local car club posts, and a pretty highly rated shop for dyno's is close to me. I'll swing by there this week and see about setting up an appt for next week if that works on their end.

Nice to hear some real-world feedback the VF Tune. Looking forward to the dyno results but the combination of a tune and pulley should have a significant impact.

We have a OTS map update we will be providing very soon (don't rush to the dyno just yet, we just finished testing this on 2 cars now).
more info on this this week!

the nice part about having a kit is you can easily flash updates
Remotely updating flash is a huge benefit. That benefit will be highly dependent on your responsiveness to address issues and help troubleshoot. From a distance it sounds promising.

I drove my friends car tn, after a major update from VF which now opens the throttle the full 80 degrees all the way to 7300 rpm redline. Stock emira and evora max at 65 degrees.

Car is batshit fast, and apparently mat has another 40hp left in optimizing for the new throttle control. Mat his literally redefined what is possible with this throttle and platform.

Based on what I drove tonight, I think a whole lot of ppl are gonna have supercar tier in gear acceleration for the price VF obd tune and a 2.6” pulley.

When my warranty is up, I will probably get it for my emira.
