I tested this and it didn't make any difference. I think the master only cranks all the volume at the same time. So you set master at 50%, all is 50%, set to 75%? everything moves to 75% and so on. It's not a separate input, but more of an input shortcut. Yes you can push Master to 100%, then pull the Media back to 50%, but I found that's no different than having Master at 50% and Media at 50%. Ultimately the Media is at 50%.

On a side note, my system is pretty well broken in and sounds way better than when I first received the car. It might even sound better after the last SW upgrade? I'm not sure about that. It sounds very good, not amazing. And still suffers when you open the windows due to sub design.

Major issues are still sub design and lack of sound deadening. I think those would make the most difference vs. increasing amp or tweeters, etc.

@seriously oddly, mine is sounding much better lately also. I just got my car a few months ago with 8k miles on it. Maybe the last owner never used the radio, but I swear it's broken in now or something. Still sounds like trash but it's way better.

For a sports car stereo I was always good with the Keff, but then after my annual service the sound became suddenly worse. I had checked the master volume when this thread first posted back in late March and was not surprised at all to see that the Master was already maxed out. I took my car in on 4/26 and ever since the Master volume keeps resetting down to 50% no matter what I do.

I'm all ears if anyone discovers a permanent solution......

My '26 delivered a month ago does the same reset to 50% on every restart. It had all software updates done prior to delivery.

Generally, 50% works well with most sources, but I do have to set the volume at near max to overcome interior engine noise when I'm in music listening mode. However, on some songs or sources, 50% isn't enough. It is fairly simple to hit the audio button, then set it to max while driving.

Overall, I am very happy with the KEF Premium Audio system that came in my '26.

Is there a tried and tested way to keep the Master volume adjustment everytime you start the car? Mine keeps resetting to 50%.

Ive tried signing out of profiles, and other things but havent got it to work yet

Anyone figure out if there’s any way to make this a default setting instead of having to do it every time?

On my 2024 I4 ,the memory for master volume holds. They did do some software updates at the dealership regarding the infotainment system but not sure this had any effect. If you haven't done any updates you might want to consider doing that and see if it holds memory

No software fix yet. Everyone please do each other a fovor and log the issue with your dealers, in the hope of getting more focus/priority on this item.

Just spent 7hrs and 300 miles in the car yesterday. Set the volumes as per the 100% master. Then left home, stopped for petrol and then remembered 3hrs later, that the volume would have reset to 50% !!! DAMN !!!
Didnt make the same mistake on the return journey

Mine also resets each time to 50%. I've done the snip and the 100% master and the system still sucks there's no getting around it. I'll just have to stop whinging and spend the dosh to upgrade like others have at some point.

I didn't check this fully, but my one reset to 50% a few times, then I set the master volume using the 'drop down' volume control on the display when you change volume, rather than the global settings. The top slider in the drop down is master volume. I've not tried changing it again now it's not dropping to 50%.

The one which appears when you change the volume, if you press the down arrow on it's right hand side whilst it's on screen you get all 5 volume controls.

Wow, indeed. I tried this, and it works. Master volume is now also set at 100%, and remained there at least once when you do it this way.

I just discovered something that greatly improved the Keff sound system in my 2024 i4. Initially before the change, there was poor quality when speaker volume was a bit higher with the sub starting to flutter. However, after going into settings and dialing up the Master volume from 50% (assuming comes as default)to 80%, the amplifier watts seemed to increase and all the mids, lowes and tweeter were all ampliied without sounding poor. I realized at 50% , it was not pushing all the power it was meant to hhandle. I wonder what 100% master volume would sound like. I think everyone would be pleased with the results and likely not needing modifications.

The sound system sounds great. Lotus should instruct salesmen to mention that. Same concept as Bluetooth speaker with phone.

I played with this as well and I have to say it is a massive improvement - I actually feel like there is some base to the music and am finally enjoying the music now! Thanks OP @NE12SD8
