Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

We have a vendor setup to make direct fit vented polycarbonate rear windows for the Emira (and Evora). Sort of an 675LT inspired type look like the picture below.
It would be a remove the glass, and install with urethane installation. If there is enough interest I will make it happen.

How long would something like this last before it hazes over from the sun? would you direct glue the poly similar to the glass or would there be a frame that the poly sits in for a tooled install?

It would have a "blackout" area like the oem glass does and would be adhered directly to the rear hatch like the glass.
The manufacturer uses a hard coating on the poly to keep it from scratching easily and protect from the elements. Adding extra protection like ceramic coating, car wax or maybe even a windshield skin would prolong its life even further though.
We have been selling hard coated poly windshields for Elise/Exige for years and never had a yellowing/hazing report but obviously things can vary widely depending on weather, being parked outside every day etc etc.

This could be pretty cool and better than a CF hatch. If designed properly I don’t see it collecting any rain at speed. Only standing still which just means don’t park it in the rain.

Hi Greg,
A cooling engine under-tray, similar to what GRP already offers for the Evora, would perhaps be a more practical solution for extra venting, particularly since water and debris penetration into the engine bay would be a non-issue. Could that be developed for the Emira?

We could make those for sure.
Something to look into when the shop car is on the lift next time.

I'll see what they can do.
Sounds like they dont have the machine capability to form a piece quite that large with ducts like the F40 has, they could only do slots/openings.
I'll ask around and see if we have another source available.

Im pulling for you Greg! also lmk if you need help finding manufacturing for this i might have someone in mind.

I would totally agree with that. If there was a good design after market roofscoop id buy it in a heartbeat… also I am planning to replace the rear glass with Carbon or Plastic option.. unfortunately there is only 1 vendor atm making it and I dont like that design at all, plus on top of that im in dispute with them so would not buy anymore.

So the ideal situation would be that one of the Chinese vendors would design a roof scoop that continues with the rear engine bay as one.. im surprised that nobody in China has taken up this yet as the 4cyl turbos are more prone to heat in the engine bay.

Lets wait and see whats possible soon.

Btw the car is melting I believe 😂
I'm also interested in replacing the rear window with a carbon or fibreglass vent. I'd like to continue the black pack look from the roof so that the vent looks like it was done from factory. Hopefully more of these options will be available shortly.

Interested, if the design is right and its finished in the same colour as the black pack (saves having to get it finished locally).

this is just me dreaming but it would be awesome if the vents could be electronically controlled and open only when the car is moving above a certain speed.
again, just dreaming..haha

- before anyone thinks I am competing or derailing GRPs thread, I'm not. I am an enthusiast just like you guys and have spent thousands of dollars with them.

Since we're dreaming, how about a variable speed extractor fan system that attaches to the underside of the vents to forcibly extract heat out of the engine bay? It would be nice if it had a heat sensor to work automatically so it only came on when needed, and only as much as needed. Something similar to the cooling/fan systems that computer cases use.

looking for more of a DRS type deal for a wing like the jubu swan neck. i can dream...

Can we hear from more persons who have fitted their JB4 and their experiences? So far the feedback is predominantly positive like my own. But would be helpful for all to hear more feed back.

Hey David, I just got mine recently after receiving a faulty unit. The jb4 completely transforms 1st and 2nd gears and it’s pulling pretty hard. 3rd gear pulls effortlessly at most speeds and feels like how 2nd gear used to feel. So super performance all round! And engine runs smoothly with no wonkiness at all on map2. Didn’t even bother to try map1 lol. Anyone still hesitating needn’t worry. I’m in Aus so that would be different to somewhere hot like Dubai or Arizona.

Yeah. That`s been my experience. I guess the one or two persons that noticed no improved performance should maybe consider that their unit needs investigating.

Hey David, Yeah there have positive post for sure, with peoples butt dyno.

However, members with Draggy or RaceBox meters haven't reported substantial performance improvements in 0-60 (~0-100) or 1/4 that lines up with 90 extra HP. The results posted line up with much lower HP improvements. Think you could expect 0.2 sec off 0-60 for each 25-30HP increment added.

Do you have performance meter? If not, you should pick one up they are pretty inexpensive these days.

My car is a nasty lil bitch now on map 4. Lots of snap crackle and pop too
