Emira Cabin Filter Replacement

Well, I might actually be wrong on my theory. After looking a bit more with no success, I went lazy (i.e., ChatGPT). and it claims the following may be true: "A private-label cabin air filter produced by a Chinese OEM supplier (JNF-marked), likely for a low-volume automotive or specialty HVAC application..."

It basically said it's highly likely Geely just ran a small batch from a Chinese manufacturer that makes these for many others. I'll keep looking. BTW, this also might explain why even dealers and GRP struggle to stock them. Again, gotta love Lotus...

Managed to pick one up straight from the dealer last week. It was the engine air filter however that I had to wait on to ship.

Pictures of those clips? If somebody had a good measurement of one and/or a 3D scan we might be able to 3d print it and post the file.
Frankly I don't see myself replacing this item due to the work and challenges.

Having replaced my cabin filter yesterday, and when reinstalling a cover, I pushed out a white clip that fell into "no man's land". I checked this morning but my local auto parts supplier didn't stock one. No surprise. I expect the Lotus dealer will charge a small fortune for one. For anyone interested, here's photos showing: a) the same type of white clip (finger pointing to it); b) the upper black connector you insert into the clip and lock it in, by pushing down and twisting the upper knob/tab 90 degrees; and c) the underside of the same type of clip. I made no measurements of it, for anyone wanting to tackle a 3D print project (sorry).

I lost one of those and it turned up 2 weeks later, lying in the drive! You have to make sure they’re lined up before pushing the other part into it and don’t press too hard!

The Emira cabin filter is not as easy as a Google search would have you believe.
Not 5min but closer to 30mins.
It's not a difficult task and needed are:
- Philips head & flathead screwdriver
- Trim removal tool
- T30 & T20
- Cabin Air filter 8890599153

1- open front hatch by removing small covers and 3x T30 bolts
2- remove two side panels adjacent to filter housing
3- remove 3x plastic panel retainers with Phillips firsts and trim tool second
4- remove 2 x T20 screws on the side of housing cover (careful not to drop washers!)
5- carefully pull filter housing cover forward and away with two drain tubes attached
6- very carefully move rubber surround from sides of filter to reveal 4 plastic retaining clips. (rubber is not great quality, mine has 10k and splitting)
7- gently pull clips to release the front filter cover
8- remove and replace filter (it's the smallest filter for a car you've ever seen!)

That should do it!

Definitely not the best quality rubber for sure! After a little research and referencing a different discussion here I replaced it with a nitrile sheet that I cut to fit.

I have a dumb question. ....if the car is under warranty and you replace the factory membrane with your own silicone/epdm.......and you still end up getting a resistor failure from corrosion.......... Are they still going to fix it or say it wasn't a factory/dealer installed part and deny the...
