What color did you go with? what color(s) did you almost go with?

What colour did I want? Yellow.

Also, after a couple of test drives I also knew I wanted the Alcantara seats and sports suspension.

I made a list of the 6 Emiras in this spec (or close) for sale in the UK and I think I saw them all. But then a new one came up on Autotrader and I contacted the dealership before they even had the photos up. This was the I got in the end – Yellow.

I agree the Emira looks great in all colours but I think the bright colours really work, yellow, purple and EOS and Isotope Green – but only Yellow was available when I got mine. The other colours work well in their own different ways, Verdant on Tan is just a classic, Osmium Silver is timeless and really shows off the car, Shadow Grey is a beautiful paint. Pretty cool that each owner has their own preferences on this.

Would I change anything? I couple of weeks ago just after dusk I drove down the road just to drop something off a at family friends. I parked under a street light – walking back to the car, I realised again just how beautiful the car is – there is really no car available today that looks better.

Would I change any of the styling on the car – yes and I have; I don’t like the diamond cut wheels so have some Aerie ones. But that’s pretty much it.

Would I change the colour? Only if Lotus ever were to come out with a brighter yellow.

I ordered Dark Verdant for my 2024 Emira and seriously considered changing to Nimbus Grey. I waffled for a bit for a few months, but stayed with my first choice and very happy with the color, especially on a sunny day here in northern California. It really "pops" ;-)

IMO black wheels look best with the black pack and vice versa. Good looking car!

well....... my thoughts based on 20-30 the test drive.

big thanks to Dennis at Lotus of San Diego. Super chill no hard sell, just scannned my license and basically threw me the keys to the V6 manual demo car and said "have fun"
The demo car wasn't the greatest spec- black on black on black with the standard leather steering wheel and seats.....

Took the car for a spirited drive for about 30 minutes....

Things I loved

The looks...it is a great looking car in just about every color. I've always loved the 458/488 and this is very inspired by that look. Looks better in person than the pictures....every angle, every color....wow

The steering feel... nice tight steering rack

The handling....car felt very planted

The super charger whistle.....pretty cool, especially with the window down

If you like attention, the gets plenty.

Things I liked

The exhust sounded pretty good for a stock set up.

The stick...once you got used to the gear box.

The seats...very comfortable with lots of adjustments.

The track mode...was the best out of the three.

The suspension ...Felt good and comfortable enough, even with the sports suspension.

Things I didn't like

The steering wheel....uuugghhh, felt like cheap plastic... even though it is "leather"
The Alcantara wheel option was much much better....Crazy how much the feel of a steering wheel can do for a first impression

The pedals...they are tiny and all bunched up closely together. I get the heel toe thing, but I much prefer the set up in my R8 and previous Cayman...99% of the buyers arent going to be heel toeing on a daily basis...

Digital display.....Not a fan of the digital speedo ....I think some old school analog guages would be much better for such a vehicle

The seating position....I like to sit low in my sports cars, the seat does not go low enough at all.

The tech....didn't seem to want to connect to Bluetooth on my phone. it also didn't seem to want to pop the trunk. Maybe I was doing something wrong.:confused2




In conclusion ....

Love the car, would hope to have one someday but........made me appriciate the R8 after getting back in it after the test drive. It felt much more refined and the growl of the V8 makes it feel more powerful, even though the Emira felt quicker. The click clack of the gated shifter is hard to beat. Emira should have done a gated shifter.

Looks wise, there isn't anything in its price range that can compete ...a mini 488 with a manual for around $100K is hard to beat

The seat position and the pedals were a bit annoying, but all in all it is a great car for the money.

If I was in the market for a brand new mid-engine car with a manual with a little over $100K budget, this car would top the list....It just has so much more wow factor over its closest competition (718 GTS 4.0)


I won't be selling my R8 for one anytime soon, but I sure would love to have one someday.....I'm sure there is a way to fix the issues that I had with the car, which weren't many.
honestly, I think the demo car spec had a lot to do with my disappointment ...especially the sterring wheel aspect, which is a huge factor as it is your connection to the car. The Alcantara spec would have probably sold me

I wanted Magma, which I eventually got, but was also thinking about the Nimbus for a while. I originally wanted black wheels, but as the Magma’s seem a bit rare, beggars couldn’t be choosers and I ended up with silver. I thought I’d end up painting them black, but they grew on me so much, I bought other wheels from MrSuntorytime and went with silver on those. As for the interior, my preference, in order was Ice grey, then alcantara, then black leather. But I had to accept black leather in the end. I hadn’t picked calliper colour as I was happy to paint them myself, but I really like the yellow it came with. Having said that, the quality of the paint on them is pretty poor. I may end up painting them anyway after all (yellow). I had to paint the callipers on my Evora due to crappy paint…..

Was going to go with Seneca blue but my 24hr test drive was in a Hethel yellow one. I than tested a Seneca blue one and it just seemed a bit understated after that, so Hethel yellow it was. If you're going for a car that looks this amazing you might as well go all in!

I agree with this.
I almost went black so I could immediately wrap my Emira an ithac verde (green) week one and not worrry about door jams etc. But I ended up going Seneca blue which was really fun. I wrapped it Green after 1.5 years just to complete the mission (also there’s two too many Seneca blues in my City lol). The color you choose definitely changes the general public comments with this car. Especially since NEW Lotus social identity is a blank-slate compared to Lamborghini or Ferrrari.

Good thread! I went with Dark Verdant (green) mainly bc my wife LOVED the color and this was “yet another” car added to the stable so I was a “team player”. I loved the car in vivid red (and don’t much care for red) and also loved it in Atlantis blue. Happy with the dark verdant but it looks black most of the time but it’s very unique.

I’ll resurrect this thread…. I’m on my Emira journey, still several months from actually pulling the pin and like others…..all the damn colors look amazing! The car doesn’t have a bad line!

I’m torn, originally hard set on Seneca blue…. Then saw BRG…….ugh! Throw in Nimbus and the photos others posted here of Atlantis Blue……. I’m totally undecided.

Thanks to those that posted photos…..it helps seeing real images.
