Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

Order placed !

My car is a V6 SC and I wonder Greg if the power gain is reached the easy way by increasing the boost level ?

I hope not because it would create / generate more heat.

On my side I dont think boost level can be increase with a SC car without changing the pulley physically but I may be wrong.

Also regarding the installation, do you know if there is a cable that will need to be route from the engine bay to the interior or if the plug N play is only done into the engine bay ?

Thank You.

93 gas is very hard to find around here. Would it be ok to run a 93 tune with 92 gas? Though I would probably stick with 91 tune just to be safe.
Or, conversely, what if you only wanted the 91 tune to be on the safer / more conservative side, but use 93 octane fuel? Would it automatically detect and change to the more aggressive 93 tune?

I saw on the burgertuning website FAQ that it can "auto tune" but unclear if that can be turned off.

it won't detect and change the tune by itself you choose what you would like to run, and then the stock ecu is wideband and has built in parameters to protect itself and adjust for intake temps, heat soak, fuel, etc. (to a degree). If you choose the 91 tune but run the 93 fuel the JB4 won't automatically change the map, it will be the map you choose. Just choose the map based on your fuel and your'e done :)

the v6 cars run very rich. this leans it out along with some other tweaks.

the cable that needs to go from cabin to the engine bay is the OBD2 connection. not really needed to function, only really useful to log data for upgrades and to clear code on the ecu. i currently have mine disconnected.

So from your perspective, that means the HP gain is not reach by increasing / touching the boost level. That is good news.

If I choosed the most expensive wireless mobile smart phone kit option, does that means I will still need to order a cable separately to be able to data log and clear code ? Or if the cable will be include in my kit to be fully functionnal for every situation needed.

With the wireless connection kit you can log, setup gauges, change tunes, read/clear codes etc from your phone, no additonal connections are needed.

Will any videos be released featuring sound, Rev speed/limit, or performance differences?

That would be interesting to see a stock emira vs JB4 Tuning side by side (if possible).
I saw a tuned BMW on carwow revert to stock and the difference was insane.

The rpm and speed limiter remain the same.

We will do some back to back Draggy pulls and post the results once we get a kit installed on the shop car, maybe some dyno pulls as well just to show a secondary set of results.

Yes, would be great to have a second perspective (about this companies claims /dyno / draggy ) 95 HP from a piggy-back unit only, seems implausible. I would expect less than 20 HP, on a supercharge engine.

Fwiw, when the v6 car was on the dyno and the engineer there was working on it he emailed in a bit of disbelief himself. He ran it numerous times dialing things in but also to verify there wasn’t some fluke thing happening. That amount of power seems crazy, I know but I don’t think they have any reason to lie, they are a very credible shop and the owner is a straight shooter from all of my interactions with him.
Regardless a second, neutral back to back test to show results is always a good thing for some reassurance.
As with my intake testing we will do an unbiased, no BS test asap!

JB4 seems like a very good option. But I would still prefer a ECU flash that can increase the redline, which unfortunately is not available yet.

Hi Greg,
As mentioned in an earlier post here, presumably installation instructions will be provided along with the recommended mounting location for the tuner module in the engine bay. When surfing the net, I came across a couple of aftermarket mounts for the JB4 customized for the Supra and the WRX. Is there a plan to offer a such a mount for the Emira? Will one be even needed, or will zip ties do the trick?

Will the JB4 be able to control/give you control of the Emira’s exhaust valve like it does in other applications?

One of my biggest concerns being an early adopter is a quickly upgraded model making this one obsolete. For example, I bought the short shifter that Greg initially offered. Before I even had a chance to install it people started noting issues with it and shifting problems. He replaced it with a different model that apparently fixes the problem. I have now got a short shifter that I never installed because I don't want to put a defective part in my car instead of the version that works.

I hope this isn't going to be one of those cases where a new model with upgraded features or better safety parameters is released in a few months leaving original buyers who took a chance out to dry

That's generally a risk with any DIY modification, right? The early adopters always take on some risk, like those who put their orders in for the Emira early in 2021. However, BMS has been around for a long time and the JB4 is a well established product, so I doubt the hardware will have issues. The tuning software will be updated if needed, I am sure.
