I think Jubu is looking at this from a track-only perspective, where cars are running at 100% all the time. The truth is likely that both sides are correct. For track-only cars running at maximum capacity constantly, it's not ideal without upgrades. However, as we've seen in the BMW/Supra community, this is largely fine for regular driving (and probably even better for turbo cars since they can simply increase boost when needed).I brought this up in discussions with other Emira owners, Evora owners as well as 2/3eleven owners. Some Evora owners are well past 500Nm and the oem race version of the 3-eleven also comes with 525Nm from the factory. I couldn’t find evidence of those failing.
I’m not doubting Jubu’s experience with the engine but they also have incentives to sell you more parts and services.
Absolutely not trying to start a war here — but I think all of us here also recognize every modification has a certain amount of risk, if the risk is too high here, use the 91 octane map or just be happy with stock power and torque output and wait it out to see how people do.
With all that said, I won't want to use the max power map and as you suggested, the more conservative one is ideal.
