What did you do to your Emira today?

Oh it should certainly be a secret! Would never wear these on a typical commute.

However I am allergic to greasy steering wheels so I have to man up and glove up. Full racing gloves would be even worse on the street! And so here is the compromise.

Sharing in the emira forum safe space only 😁
Here's a Forum thread devoted to driving gloves:

That said and FWIW, I'll mention that my driving gloves had some sort of waxy coating on them, which came off and onto my alcantara steering wheel. So my plan to avoid putting sweat from my hands onto the steering wheel backfired; I put a waxy-type contaminant instead. I noticed something happening with my steering wheel, but failed to make the connection. Then I dropped off my car with my detailer at the end of last year, to apply ceramic coating. When picking up the car, he told me he'd generously decided to detail the entire car interior n/c (I left him a big tip). He complained there was a "ton of stuff" on the steering wheel which took some time for him to clean off and he pointed to my gloves.

I still use those gloves (red to match my Emira), but now they're starting to turn black from the steering wheel contact; there's no longer anything transferring onto the steering wheel; it's the other way around.

Something for anyone using gloves which might have a protective coating on them, to keep in mind.

Put a new stripe on the head rests. Got a self adhesive leatherette sheet in steering wheel marker color (red color) to see how it looks. It actually matches pretty decent. Cut a two inch stripe and folded edges to make a one inch width and attached ends with adhesive. I did not put it on seat bottom (I didn't like it there..). Here are the pictures and link to the leatherette I got, just in case if someone is interested- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DM4GYHDW?tag=emiraforum-20

Performed my 1K mile oil change today and took the time to clean the wheels and calipers while I had it on the quickjacks.

Just got the 3rd cat delete pipe installed - a little bit of expansion (GRP) was needed but worked in the end.

There is a little more rumble on idle, but after 4k rpm or so it is quite glorious. Happy that on normal driving it is still pretty standard sounding, but when you want to gun it, it is wonderful. Extremely happy with it and won't be looking to add the valve controller. How the stock car should have been for sure!

Hit a massive chunk of concrete during a storm on the way to South Carolina. The front end was slightly lifted and I had to reverse in order to get the front back on the ground.

The skid plate in the front is made out of aluminum so it was easy to bend it back into place. The bumper support bracket that is mounted to the subframe bent in all sorts of different ways. Costs about $250 for a new one.

I was really lucky!

Went to a factory tour of Nitron suspension. Really cool stuff. Definitely thinking of getting some with front axle lift in the future.

Popped over to Italy for a pizza, via the Col du grand St Bernard. Always a nice summer trip.

More pics from the Nitron Tour.... big thanks for Stu for organising.

The Nitron kit is some really impressing stuff, they were talking about some cars still have some of the original shocks on from when Nitron started out - over 20 years old and still working good as new. They obviously care about their products, the attention to detail was impressive. They also log the history of every single shock they produce and service - even though 80% of what they produce is consumer grade not race. Nitrons also seem to be not that expensive compared with some other brands.

Got my full front and roof PPF, plus sharkskin PPF in front of the rear wheels, always had it on all my previous Porsche and it's one place that gets hammered by rocks.

1. Did my first oil change at 1,500 miles
2. Installed the GPR 3rd Cat delete pipe
3. Installed the Milltec Valve Controller and programmed it to the mirror

Took me longer than expected due to the pipe being too small and having to cut some metal to fill the space, but boy, what a difference in sound with the valve open.

Having the pipe too small is a standard issue, I had the same. But to me, it's a sign of a poorly designed part. Anyone has a real explanation for this? All my cars have exhausts, and this situation is still a first to me.

They do state on their website that due to variations in Lotus's exhaust setup, at some cars it might be not tight enough. Wasn't a big deal and just took longer as I needed to make a store run to get a dryer vent ;-)

Got it booked in to have another look at this front end creaking that was happening this time last year. It only happens when it's hot enough. Car is now out of warranty but I reported the problem before it expired. Fingers crossed Lotus agree to cover it. Hopefully we can find the cause this time around. 🤞 Video for those who are curious is attached. I can feel it coming through the cabin.

Can't be poorly designed, it fit mine perfectly! 😁

It's been mentioned in numerous posts before, but it would really be helpful if members specify in their banner under "Status" what version of the Emira they have.
