Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

No really confusing when thinking about. The OBD is really just a recording portal of some sort. It collects data, but doesn`t do anything but record it. It doesn`t act on the data. The ECU is the thing that acts on the engine depending of what the engine is doing. The JB4 sits in between 2 the ECU 'sensors" and provides new info to the ECU to act on. If this info is going to make the engine shite itself, the ECU acts and blocks this from happening. The Burger boys(or persons, if that`s what you prefer), manipulate the data through these 2 inputs up to the level where the ECU say""no more". The OBD collects the "no more" data.

I THINK?
I think you misunderstood the premise of my comment. There is a post by a customer addressing not having the OBD2 connection. The dialogue and email had stated that JB4 can be used without the obd2 connected but that only Map 1 will be activated. While you can select other map2 and on without obd2 connection, they will not be activated according to that email discussion with Berger Motorsports

Im now a self-professed pro at removing the backseat panels with extreme efficiency. 😜 ( getting better and better with panel reinstallation lol)

Anywho, i couldnt find the cabin-engine rubber grommet behind the panel behind the driver’s seat where the fusebox is located. And i wouldve had to fish the OBD wire up from that grommet to the mounted piggyback anyway.

I studied the Service Manual today and am thinking about removing the accessory belt and unbolting the alternator out of the way to get at that MAP harness. Shouldnt be too difficult. Need to rebuild up the motivation after this past weekend’s defeat. 😞 Lol
This is what I did as per TDI instructions. I had a small breaker bar to help push the pully out of the way. I couldn't do it with the wrench alone. I detached the compressor, removed the belt and pry the pully over. Reached in and grabbed the sensor plug. It's tight but just breathe and take your time lol

We have verified proof that map 2 works without the OBD connection in place by a couple users,
I think Burger would prefer everyone to have this connection in place to log data and send to them so they have a large sample size from people across the country/world with various fuel types, elevation, temps etc etc to optimize the maps even further.
I know its a pain to run the cable to make that connection but it is sort of for the greater good if you are going to run the higher level map and then you can 100% verify your car is running optimal.

I have the TDI as well, i didnt think to read the instructions to see if installation instructions were different. Yes, moving the AC compressor from below (vs. the alternator from backseat rear panel access window) would be easier and should give adequate space. This is exciting! Thanks for the info… :p

Gotcha, I just threw in my order Greg. Let's see how it compares to my TDI.

I agree. It was confusing. That`s why I asked GRP what they thought. Also, I notice a significate change in performance from, Off, Map 1, and YeeHaaa! Map 2.

I just downloaded the e85 calculator app. Pretty cool app and calculates exactly how to reach E30 from various premium pump gas. I want all the juice lol

Of course, you're welcome :)

rather than running crazy long wires just to get the CAN data, just tap into the 2 CAN wires right off the ECU would likely be 10x easier. Just a thought.

Yeah that’s ideal if we knew which 2 were can lol
