BFlash has confirmed that they can unlock the stock ECU, however the unlock cost is very very high. It’s more expensive that other ecus.

So cloning is still the best method I think

That's a bargain if you ask me, but it is nice to be able to go back to a standard untouched ECU if required.

Just wondering what effect swapping ECUs would have on the car's reported mileage? I assume it's recorded deep in the ECU so if you switch back to the original ECU for servicing or MOT it would show artificially low mileage?

~550 seems to be what the stage 2 and 3 AMG A45 S' are making in Europe, I think with all the normal mods and hybrid turbos. Sure you could build internals and get it to be as high as you want with a gigantic turbo - kind of crazy when you realize it's TWO LITERS lol!

Above 550 it ain`t last to long.

Not trying to spoil it, but tuners in China had more than a few times with this "oh yeah we can do that", hopefully you have better luck than us.

The scene in china is bit special. Even its changeing last years, its much more "fake it till you make it" then in other countries...

When bf says they can -then it works for sure. Its one of the best tools in market if it comes to read/write/log ecu`s.

Is that true of the logging too? It would be handy if the logging stayed with the ECU so there's no trace of the mod when the original ECU is back in place.

Yea I agree 550hp probably a little too high for comfort for me but the whole engine is forged. Maybe upgrade valve springs and better fueling and I think it’s possible. If those Honda B and K engines can go into the high HP and hold power, then I don’t see why this couldn’t.

I dunno why you have that subtle dig at China, but there was no “fake it till you make it”. Their cloning method works and at the time they were trying to unlock, no one had a solution so their cloning method was their only viable method.

It’s great that someone has now unlocked the ecu via non cloning but both methods are viable ways to get a tunable ecu.

Either way, choice is good, one is using an old obd unlockable ecu and the other is using your own ecu but will still need to be bench flashed. What bflash has done will inevitably spread to other ecu programmers and hopefully someone will come up with an obd unlock solution for our ecus

When you swap ECUs the ECU does not record what is going on, it doesn't even know it was swapped.
