Can anyone answer if this increases or reduces the "burbles" that the factory tune has? I think it's actually quite rowdy (especially with TI exhaust and 3rd cat delete), so I'm curious if this increases, decreases, or remains roughly the same - @mr.suntorytime any feedback with the testing here?

There used to be a shell station, off the 5 freeway in Burbank at the alameda exit. I will have to swing by there tomorrow to see if they still have it. Where in Brentwood? I work at UCLA and can swing by and check.

Well i have the stock SS exhaust so it wont be the same, but it seems a tad louder with less popping on decel.

Thanks for the feedback; Personally, I was hoping that was the answer and would assume with "cleaner" A/F ratios it would not burble as much - I enjoy it sometimes but most of the time crawling out of the neighborhood the low RPM 1-2 shift tends to backfire loudly!

I brought this up in discussions with other Emira owners, Evora owners as well as 2/3eleven owners. Some Evora owners are well past 500Nm and the oem race version of the 3-eleven also comes with 525Nm from the factory. I couldn’t find evidence of those failing.

I’m not doubting Jubu’s experience with the engine but they also have incentives to sell you more parts and services.

Absolutely not trying to start a war here — but I think all of us here also recognize every modification has a certain amount of risk, if the risk is too high here, use the 91 octane map or just be happy with stock power and torque output and wait it out to see how people do.

I think Jubu is looking at this from a track-only perspective, where cars are running at 100% all the time. The truth is likely that both sides are correct. For track-only cars running at maximum capacity constantly, it's not ideal without upgrades. However, as we've seen in the BMW/Supra community, this is largely fine for regular driving (and probably even better for turbo cars since they can simply increase boost when needed).

With all that said, I won't want to use the max power map and as you suggested, the more conservative one is ideal.

I contacted Laguna Seca racetrack, which is by where I live, to see if I could purchase high octane gas from them. Unfortunately, they do not sell to the public, they only sell the gas to those participating in track days. I did however get a recommendation to call another local company and that company will sell me 116 octane gas. This is a potential workaround for anyone who does not live near a 93 octane gas station. It is quite a bit more expensive, at around $125 for 5 gallons of 116 octane, but I think I can use 1 gallon of 116 octane and mix it with 10 or 11 gallons of 91 octane to end up slightly above 93 octane.

So, stupid question: are the maps likely to be US-specific (given you guys had CARB-related tune changes as standard), or will they work without a hitch for us alien types? Is international support for this product generally considered pretty good?

There's nothing CARB about this one. It comes with a track only disclaimer.

Of note the UK rates octane different than the US so you would have to do a rough conversion. Our 91 [(RON+MON)/2] is like your 95 (RON). US 93 is probably like a 97 there.

You will be able to run the same maps, just make sure to account for the different fuel ratings -- 95euro petrol =91 US , 97-99euro = 93 US

You can start with 91 tune and run log to see if the data is good. If you don't know how to read log you can email Greg at Burger Tuning and he will be able to tell you if you can move up. This is the core function of JB4 where you can actually see how your car is doing unlike other piggybacks that doesn't run on canbus.
