FWIW, a number of us did have noise on the OEM factory pads - mine are Brembos and usually in the hotter conditions you mentioned. Hawk Ceramics have also been reported to make noise under certain conditions, mine also make noise sometimes at a certain temperature range. I find doing a very firm stop from 60mph down to 10mph helps reduce the noises for a while.
My OEM pads squealed just as you described.
When I initially installed the Hawk pads, I ignored the included grease and installed them dry. The fronts squealed pretty bad then too. I took them back out and put the thinnest layer of the included grease on the backs of the front pads and the contact points of the pins and springs on the front calipers, and they have been virtually silent now going on 2k miles.
Was planning to install the Hawks this weekend, but after reading a few comments about reduction in overall braking performance I’m on the fence now…
For those that have made the switch, is the tradeoff worth it? (Not worried about dust, just looking to reduce the initial grabbiness)

I have the Hawk pads installed.
Significant reduction in brake dust.
No squealing that I have noticed. They were installed by a shop that installs them on several cars.
I have not noticed a decrease in braking performance but I only have about 800 miles on them. 3000 miles total.
I have not tracked the car.

No not really. I just took them on an autocross and pushed them and they held up just fine. The minimal dust in itself is worth it
They're fine. Yes you have to push harder to lock up the tires but I prefer the modulation. It's held up fine to back to back runs on autocross and some repeated hard stops.

Kind of funny....you use the coupon code and about $15 off, but then have to pay $14 for shipping because the coupon code cancels free shipping.
Just talked to Hawk (USA), and they have the DTC70 for the rear but not the DTC60. Part HB585U.660.
The fronts they have the 60, part #HB586G.660, and the 70, part A#HB586U.660. I may run the 60 in the front and use ceramic or something softer than the 60 in the rear while I still have drilled rotors. Three track days and they are still going, to my surprise. Hawk says they only have the U (DTC70)and Z (ceramic) in the rears.
Change of plans after consulting with my race parts suppler: going to use DTC70 all around, and hope the drilled rotors last until something better comes along, AP or Girodisc maybe.

I wouldn't go back to the stock pads if you paid me. Hawk Ceramics for street driving are 10 out of 10

Ordered both front and rears, arrive tomorrow. Is this a DIY job or do I need to take it to a shop? Done tons of brake jobs, but just on generic vehicles. Anyone have an install doc?
I'm nearing 5K miles on my '24 Emira and just installed my Hawk ceramic pads. Serious kudos to AP Racing for the most excellent caliper design ever -- 100% easiest pad change I've ever done! I had to remove the shims from the Hawk rears, they were just not going to go in without a fight -- we'll see how they do without them. I did one side (front and rear) at a time, took about 40 mins each side including cleaning up the wheels. Still need to go drive and bed in.

Perhaps you're already aware but maybe it'll help someone else out, if you change tires in the future and they don't have such a thick rim guard on the sidewalls, really think 3 times before placing the rim 'face down' onto the ground.

Initial report -- like others have mentioned before, these cermic pads provide excellent feedback and a progressive feel from first grab onward, I can absolutely say this was an improvement over the stock pads. I've driven about 60 miles so far and have had zero noise, even during the first break in session. Additionally there's what I would consider a major improvement in the deposit of brake dust at the wheel, caliper, and rear of the car....money well spent!

Following up on my install --- it's been a few weeks and plenty of driving -- even an "OH SHIT" I just got cut off emergency slam on the brakes ---- Flawless, excellent pedal feel, not a single noise from any pad, even the rears with the shims removed, and of course a lot less dust (still some, but much less!) Highly recommend!!!!
