Added a light coat of oil to bring out the color of the wood.
136g on wood knob vs 115g oe knob.

The key is smart, my oem wooden shift knob delaminated from the metal inner portion nearly instantly. I had to use a two part epoxy to get it to stay. Lotus basically lathes down a regular metal shift knob and puts a wood piece around it. Curious how you will do the coin top style!
A few other securing features are being considered depending on how robust the way I designed it will be in situ.
Yeah the last thing I want is the wood to delam during a spirited drive.

Are you planing to also offer a lighter wood version as well, or will it be only this dark one. Imo, the lighter mahogany seems to match nicely with the tan leather.
This is walnut. Using hardwood in general is a good idea. Any species of hardwood in lighter finish will work. I just chose this species for prototypes because I’m quite fond of it.

This upgrade is right up there with the real buttons for the steering wheel on "must have" items: the Rodak Garage wooden shift knob. I've been waiting a year to find a good one. My 911 Carrera T came with a beautiful wood knob like this and it ruined me for shifting with anything less. I ordered a gorgeous custom one for my other 911 from SportShifters in the Netherlands and it is the ultimate in customizable (you choose everything from the pattern colors to the font), but despite my begging they would not make one for the Emira due to the reverse lockout.
So many thanks to @Eagle7 for letting me know about Rodak. Took about 6 weeks and $250, which is half the price of a SportShifters and frankly dirt cheap for quality woodwork. This knob is gorgeous! SO much classier and more elegant, especially with this interior. It's just a bit larger than the OEM, and 42 grams heavier both of which I prefer. Feels great in the hand.
The only thing I need to tweak is it comes with blue (nonpermanent) threadlocker and also thread tape. The threadlocker isn't 100% tight, and you can't just screw it down to a stop point as evidently it'll bust thru the top of the knob if you just kept going. Anyway it held tight thru a 3 hour drive yesterday and I love it. Highly recommended!

Got the knob in hand yesterday and was able to weight the little bugger.
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of these! Any update on when they might be available for purchase?

Wow I was sitting here contemplating if I want a wood knob, or waiting on you to fabricate this knob but this might be the best of both worlds
