Shift Knob Replacement

Interested. I bought your larger, heavier version of the OEM knob as soon as it came out and love it but I have been eyeballing the wood knobs since it came out on the Clark edition.

The aluminum version has 6 slots just under the centerline for texture and visual appeal while the wood one has a crown where it mates with the wood. They both show the reverse lockout mechanics, but both are slightly different in details. I think both look great and proud of how they look, wood looks better on a tan interior I think, but Suntory plans to produce in different woods so perhaps some darker woods will match with a non tan interior too.

Renders are at scale, the overall dimensions of both half wood and all metal knobs will be identical. 48mm ball diameter and 65mm tall overall.

Yeah Ebony for the black interior, mahogany maybe for tan, and ash for white interior. if anyone has all these and more species that can provide matching pics to their interior it would help us narrow down the right species.

I have 2 of the OEM wood ones from Lotus. Would you like me to remove one and weigh it?
I can take a closer pic of each if you want, as the first knob I ordered for my Jim Clark Elise SC is notably lighter and smoother than the darker, coarser one that came on my Clark Emira.

yeah max i would aim for is 160g. anything more and its taking more effort to pull the shifter out of gear.

I was heading to bed and saw this wood salad bowl on my black counter and didn't think it looked half bad. A warm wood with grain is also a safe bet. Looking forward to some options but I'm likely in for sure.

This upgrade is right up there with the real buttons for the steering wheel on "must have" items: the Rodak Garage wooden shift knob. I've been waiting a year to find a good one. My 911 Carrera T came with a beautiful wood knob like this and it ruined me for shifting with anything less. I ordered a gorgeous custom one for my other 911 from SportShifters in the Netherlands and it is the ultimate in customizable (you choose everything from the pattern colors to the font), but despite my begging they would not make one for the Emira due to the reverse lockout.

So many thanks to @Eagle7 for letting me know about Rodak. Took about 6 weeks and $250, which is half the price of a SportShifters and frankly dirt cheap for quality woodwork. This knob is gorgeous! SO much classier and more elegant, especially with this interior. It's just a bit larger than the OEM, and 42 grams heavier both of which I prefer. Feels great in the hand.

The only thing I need to tweak is it comes with blue (nonpermanent) threadlocker and also thread tape. The threadlocker isn't 100% tight, and you can't just screw it down to a stop point as evidently it'll bust thru the top of the knob if you just kept going. Anyway it held tight thru a 3 hour drive yesterday and I love it. Highly recommended!

Yep this is Mahogany/Mahogany and the standard size. No special finish. I'm not sure it has any finish on it, which makes me a little paranoid that the oils from my hands may discolor it with years of use. My SportShifters knob seems to have an extremely thin/light matte lacquer on it that has never brought the same concern to mind. So you might inquire if they have any matte/light lacquer protection available to add. It might already have some that is so light it's soaked in and appears unlacquered, as bare wood is usually not this rich looking.
