Prices increase update from Lotus - and stopping of reservations for V6 FE

    Featured
Please be advised that, as a result of significantly increasing costs, the Lotus Emira will later this year be subject to new pricing.

Whilst a significant level of cost increase has been absorbed, with effect from 1 June 2023, the retail price will increase to £81,995 (incl VAT) for the Emira V6 First Edition, and £77,795 (incl VAT) for the Emira First Edition 4-cylinder turbocharged variant. Full pricing details can be found on our website. However, your Emira reservation will not be affected by this increase, we can confirm your reservation has been price protected.

We are fully committed to our production schedule and in the next two weeks, we will be in touch via email to update you further on the progression of your Lotus Emira.

Due to overwhelming demand, we will be closing reservations for Lotus Emira V6 First Edition. We will be sharing the exact timings soon.

Definitely Caterham! I built and drove one for almost 10 years. Utterly useless, except for being the most fun you'll ever have in a car! One of only a handful of cars I wish I still had.
Yeah, as I say I'm not really looking for that kind of fun... maybe 20 years ago.

In fact I used to have a Dutton Melos: Ford cross-flow from an Escort Mexico but the tranny from an Escort van. That thing was like a scolded cat. There was a very steep hill outside the city where I grew up and if you buried the throttle in that thing - in any gear - the g-force you got going UP that hill was unbelievable. 0-60 in something very silly - almost bike territory - but it topped out at 70mph. Fun. Rare. Cheap Insurance. £5k. No room for an overnight bag and a girl I was really interested in cut her leg on the ally dash and never got in the car again.

I’d shop for an air cooled 911 for sub 100k. The atom would be a fail for me cause my wife wouldn’t go to the marina with me. I guess that’s the hard core line for me lol the 20 minutes to the dock
I'm actually thinking I might investigate selling one of the Esprits and putting that and the cash I've been saving for the Emira into a pre-owned Huracan or a Gallardo... Scary running costs but they've done most of their depreciation. The wife isn't convinced by the angles, though, and I'm not 100% sold on the rear end of either. Never driven one either so might not be for me...

Yeah, it was 25 years ago for me when I still had more tolerance for self-abuse. I sold it for my first Elise which felt like a luxury car compared to the 7.

A few years after that I thought I might repeat the experience and bought a Morgan 3 wheeler. I quickly discovered that I was no longer tough enough to handle anything more than about an hour. I like a little more legroom and comfort these days!

With those tires, I'm sure its handling was not quite the same, either. :sneaky:
Understeer was terminal. And you really couldn’t lift to tuck the nose back in. But with the ridiculous torque from the 2 liter v twin, you’d just mash the throttle harder and it would dirt track through a corner with the tail out. Driving it hard was a leap of faith in that rear wheel because the fronts weren’t holding up their end of the bargain!

Now THAT's a wild ride! The Vanderhall Venice has a Ford turbo 4 banger. You and any bystanders in the vicinity can hear the blowoff whoosh. I rented it for 24 hours and had many compliments, despite the fact that it is a $24,000 car.

I put a deposit down on the new vanderhall Santa Rosa. Dual electric motors, same HP as a Miata but half the weight. No news on when production or delivery will start and poor comms. Guess I’m a sucker for abuse. Lol

I think it might come with the "unique" small-volume car territory. I've had Lotus, Caterham, Morgan, and Zenos. All have their issues with communication, parts, etc. Commodity marques like BMW, Porsche, Audi, and the Japanese brands have large volume, large staffs and greater capabilities.

But I love those weird little cars, and I keep buying them regardless of the pain!

I want pics of that car, and Cory, your ANIMAL!
