Is your EMIRA your only sport car?

I used my 3 previous Elise's as daily drivers for many years, loved them.
Now I'm older, I have the Emira, which I love, a Ferrari 360 Spider (must sell this year) an Evo 8 FQ-320 MR (which also must sell the year) & Focus RS mk3, oh and a R1 (too old to ride now, so will keep it as a show piece in my garage, or on the wall if I can)

I had my Emira and my F430 at the same time for a few months!
I had to sell one. I miss the Ferrari

For a short spell after I got the Emira, my Vantage which I'd had for 10 years was still around but sadly that had to go. The 2004 996 Carrera 4S is thankfully still mine, I've had it 18 years and it's now done over 175,000 miles. It's a very capable and communicative car like the Emira but in a totally different way - they compliment each other well. And 4-wheel drive is kinda handy in Scotland in the winter...

I did a full suspension rebuild a couple of years ago, all new components including a set of KW V3 coil-overs - platform height, rebound and compression all adjustable. Drives as good as it looks but if I could have only one it would be the Emira.

I swapped my Vantage for the Emira. The Aston is IMO an unbelievably stunning super model and sounded amazing. I’m happy the I got to live with a V12 for a while, but it was silly expensive to drive (12 mpg) and felt somewhat dated. If I could have kept both I would, but I already have more cars than space.

I’m still waiting for my emira to arrive, but I also have a manual f430. From my emira test drives, it really is similar to the 430, it feels so mechanical and exotic

Ok for you guys that have an Artura....can you give me a comparison between the two cars? Driving, sound, power...etc. I am considering the Artura as my next car. I will not be keeping both...I need a larger garage .

I was always interested in the Saab growing up. There were many in the So Cal area as a kid. (80’s) Know nothing about them but was for some reason intrigued by the car.

The emira is my fun track car that I can still drive on the street. The artura is my fun street car that I can drive on the track. If you get an artura I strongly recommend a MY ‘25 or later and getting a spider. My research led me to believe the ‘23-24 cars had more bugs and McLaren ironed those issues out for the ‘25s. They also refined the car in ‘25 (more power from electric motor, improved shifting pressures as well). The carbon fiber tub looses no rigidity being a spider and only adds minimal weight. The spider also allows you to put just the rear glass down to be able to hear the engine better. Even with the factory sports exhaust, the artura seems quiet from the cockpit. I think the emira sounds better, but I’ve also done the 3rd cat delete and valve controller.

While the artura’s performance is just absolutely incredible, in order to utilize its full potential, you essentially have to go on track. Otherwise you’re hitting felony level speeds on the street to stretch its legs. On the same track straight, the emira topped out at 128mph while the artura hit 152mph. The artura feels more comfortable cruising around town in comfort mode (emira has sport suspension). The track settings for the artura are noticeably distinguishable. Side note, the dihedral doors are well engineered and really add to the overall experience.

Both have a similar feel being mid engine, double a-arm suspension with hydraulic steering and braking. Both feel very special to me but for different reasons. The emira is special because of driver engagement and even though it’s slower, every time I drive it, it reminds me why I have both. I also enjoy how people don’t know what the emira actually is. Some people have never even heard of Lotus before.

Interior wise, they’re both fairly simple which I like. The B&O sound system in the McLaren is pretty good. There’s better out there, but it’s definitely better than the Kef system in the emira. The optional club sport seats in the artura are more snug but also more comfortable than the emira’s seats. I felt like I sit on the seat in the emira while I sit in the seat in the artura. Will probably put Tillet seats in the emira.

I live in the UK so you can guess already that this is very much a seasonal user car!!!
i average over 2k miles per year on the car primarily over the summer months, so if you consider that i do try to drive it when the fine days are upon us here.
The S2k is a completely different proposition to the Emira and its hard to let go of a convertible once you have owned one.
The S2k has one of the best manual gearboxes ever put into a car, but there is a big disadvantage to many drivers ... you have to drive it like you stole every time you drive it. if you dont you are NOT experiencing the car. Therefore it is not a car i could daily a it is too compromised i.e. not much room and noisy. BUT IT TRUELY DELIVERS as a drivers car. You own a Lotus so in my opinion go get yourself a test drive in one. If you can live with the areas i commented on then you will love it.

I agree. They made a mistake with that decision. It’s still a great car though!
