Nobody was faulting the Evora’s handling. I’m glad it’s basically the same chassis vs a complete redesign. Yes, the marketing is disingenuous. Lotus = good at design, bad at marketing and communication.

Who?

Can’t stand these tossers.
Probably one of the most popular car journalists on YouTube, there's only a few larger than him; Schmee, Harry's Garage and CarWow are the only ones I can think of that are bigger at least in the UK.
Nearly 450K subscribers and that is growing fast. Watched by over 2.5 million over the last month. Also a known ex-Lotus Evora owner and fan.
You might not like it but he will be having a big influence on potential Lotus customers (also a lot of what he says here I have heard from current Lotus owners).

It seems that either Evora owners, previous Evora owners, or people who just want to sound trendy tend to be the ones who insist the Emira is just a re-skinned Evora, and it isn't. Lotus was and is correct in saying it's a new car because it is. It has features that no Lotus has ever had. Virtually everything you can see is new, from the wheels to the exterior and interior. It is not a totally new technology that's never ever been seen before in the world, but not many cars are... from anyone. It's also the first car produced in their brand new production system, including a new paint system.

Just calling it an Evora in a fat suit does a huge disservice to all the effort and work that went into designing, creating and producing it, and during some very difficult times too. I like some of JayEmm's videos, but he's built his style on being critical more than anything else it seems. That's fine, it's his channel and he often has valid criticisms for the things he points out, but he really seems to have an axe to grind with Lotus.

Talk about shirts and 'getting it wrong' ;-) Owning and having owned most of the very high end prestige car brands in the world...my Emira ranks in the top 5 of best cars I have owned or own (among F8 Tributo, 991.2 GT Manual, Donkervoort GTO, AMG GT). It needs Nitron, Braid forged wheels, some lowering, carbon buckets and 6p harness...and you end up with one of the finest sportscars that money can buy. I absolutely adore it! And it comes and half price or one third compared to the next best alternative. The Emira is a brilliant piece of kit, that just needs some little tweaking to make it one of the best sportscars in the world. Will never sell it, as can't get anything better for same money. Mark my words. My few cents to the conversation...

I agree with and have 1st hand experience of nearly everything Jay Emm says about the company and would say he gave an extremely articulate and true account of Lotus. They had such a great opportunity and they blew it. The entire senior management level needs wiping out and starting again! They are a shit show like nothing else and the single worst retail experience of my life! That said, I do still love my car! 😍

I agree, you have to know what you’re getting into. If you do and willing to make those upgrades then it’s the best car money can buy. I mean look at the new SE starting at just over 130k and doesn’t solve any of these. Best yo upgrade why you have then chase the next best thing.

Yeah I’ve seen his reviews and this one was clickbait, never seen so much paid commercials pop up. Most everyone who has reviewed the Emira it has been great so doing something like this would get him more views and money.

The statement alone of Lotus should have been the next Porsche is the dumbest I’ve heard yet. Only in the title to get people to watch. People look at these YouTubers for approval of what they want to drive or what they are driving. They are just people who get paid to do this for a living take everything with a grain of salt. Always use your judgement not some random “journalist”.

I agree. This car is already really good, and it's a great starting point for mods to refine it even further.

I stand by my comment.

Anyone who is influenced by one of these clickbait clowns (Harry aside, as he doesn’t need to do it) is themselves an idiot.

Whining and controversy equals clicks, equals money, equals flipping cars so they can buy the next one to whinge about.

Would I seriously consider changing a plan to spend my own hard earned money based on anything these performers have to say?

As if.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as they take the time to research it and become informed - as we both seem to have done. As a Lotus owner/customer of 25 years I believe most of what is is said in his video is pretty much spot on despite a bit of sour-grapes and hyperbole, so thanks for inferring I'm "an idiot"

The Emira is good and JayEmm is still right on almost all his points -- and fucking dead on with critique about Lotus as a company.
