Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I installed it on my V6 auto and it ran fantastic for the first week. I then took the plunge to install the OBDII cable through the firewall, and once I had that hooked up it started getting a CEL P0106 and limp mode.

I spent a day emailing back and forth with Terry at Burger and we couldn't find any reason for the CELs - all the connections were solid, no water in the unit, tried it with and without OBDII, etc. I'd clear the code and within 15 minutes of driving it would happen again. We are assuming a bad board or loom, so he is sending me another unit to try. If we still have problems, he said he would take my car for a couple of days and get to the bottom of it. I'll update when I have more info.

I installed the replacement last night. I did a 20-ish minute test drive in track mode. I didn’t push it too hard but no CEL so far. I’ll try to find some time this weekend for a more spirited drive and then continue putting some miles on it throughout the week. So far so good.

Hi guys, I ordered the JB4 from GRP on Monday night, and it arrived with me the UK Thursday morning. I couldn't believe how quick the delivery was

However.. after fitting, the car went into limp mode and logged code P0102.

With Terry Burger on the end of my email, we went through every possible check to establish this problem. Unfortunately we were unable to resolve it.

Terry is now waiting for anyone else to come forward with the same issue, from the same batch as mine, before potentially sending out a new kit.

Me being very impatient and wanting the extra HP asap, I thought I'd ask on here as to whether anyone purchased from GRP in the most recent batch? Any problems?

Mine would be from that batch, but I can't complete the install until I receive the bracket, which is supposed to arrive Monday. Is yours a manual or auto, and did you connect the OBD cable?

Mine is from the same batch most likely as I just received it. I am installing it next week and will report back any issues.

Mine is V6 manual, and I did connect the OBD, but I tired it with and without and it made no difference. Terry Burger is sending me out a new unit so I will let you know how it goes

Here's that same area in the picture with the white fuse box cover, but the cover is removed. You can see how much more room you have to get your hand behind the curved plastic piece, which is hiding that rubber plug.

Just an aside. That fuse box cover is not white. It has just not had the white protective film removed. I removed mine when I had it apart to install sound deadening. I also removed some other films that were left on during the assembly process on other areas.

Anyone with a 360bhp i4 fitted a JB4, and have any dyno runs done, or have any new performance data (such as 0-60 times)???

Quick question. On the v6 maps, there a map 3 that says race fuel. Does that mean you dump some octane boost(to get to about 103 to 106 octane), then select map 3 and off you go. Or is it a bit more to it than that

Payam addressed that on post #1050 on the previous page. He says it works but to be careful with it; not the exact same as actual race gas.

If you go to VP Racing’s website and look at their octane booster products they show the ratios of booster to gallons based on how much risk you want to take on.

I ran VP race gas in a Mustang GT with a Roush supercharger years ago and it was $60 per pail, not anymore

I've used VP octane booster in my turbo Lotus Elise for years without any issue. I would add a full bottle (about $25) to my 10 gallon tank which gave me 100 octane. And I was boosting about 25 PSI. In the Emira I add 1 and 1/2 bottles to a full tank. That brings me just a little over 100 octane.

I've also run the E30 map as well which is obviously less expensive. There I run 3.8 gallons of e85 to a full tank of 93. There is also an app that will do a perfect calculation of that.

Admittedly i’ve lost track of all the feedbacks from this thread so i might be wrong, but it seems to me it turned “V6-only JB4 tuning”. Very little info about the i4. I really hope i am wrong and just missed the info.
