@silent cilantro I have an iPhone 16 Pro, but will probably swap it next year. How can this be tackled? Is the tray for the 16 Pro able to accomodate other phones as well? If there's a way to have future-proof compatibility with a newer iPhone or Android device, then count me in please! :) (thanks to @virtualmacho for his suggestions)

I've experienced several issues when connecting CarPlay wirelessly. I can only use it plugged. In fact, I disabled wireless connection entirely. That's what's holding me from placing an order atm.
It’s key to fully delete CarPlay profile, then reconnect and when asked, select USB only. This is only way to make sure it isn’t using wireless CarPlay when when plugged in. It’s also the most robust resilient CarPlay experience with best audio.

That said, silent’s tray is awesome and a nice way to stow the phone even if plugged in!

I think a tray that fits an iPhone 17 Pro Max will be pretty universal as it has a horizontal camera bar that extends the width of the phone. Same as the recent Pixels but even taller. An exception would be the Samsung phones with their vertical camera stacks.

Something else to consider is the charging coil is not always vertically centered, depends on the phone. The position of that coil in relation to the camera bump matter because there is limited amount of space in the tray.

I’ll work on printing one for a 17 pro max today to test.

Yeah I considered having the charging pad proud of the base but that caused some phones with weaker magnets to slide off. That should be easy to make if anybody wants that option though.

Pad/coil location still matters for some large phones so they don’t stick out the bottom of the tray

I have the charger you sold to @GRP and put in his car, which I am guessing is for an iPhone. I am using it for my S25 Ultra, and the magnetic part doesn't hold it steady, but it charges fine. I think my phone is too big and it doesn't make full contact with the magnetic part.

Let us know if that fits an iPhone 16/17 non max nicely and holds it firmly in place! That would mean that one design would fit at least 4 models: 16/17 pro and pro max

Alright good news. Printed a new universal tray yesterday and ordered a bunch of cases from Amazon to test fitment. The new tray will fit:

- All iPhones with MagSafe (12-17, Air)
- Pixel 8-10 including XL models
- Samsung S23-25 (non Ultra, waiting to confirm Plus models.)

The S2X Ultra phones are just too large to fit in the universal tray. They hit the back of the cubby and stick out the front. So like @NicolasB mentioned, the phone will charge (probably at a slower rate) but the magnets won’t hold it.

BUT, I do have a version that will fit those phones. It repositions the magnetic charger pad lower so the phone doesn’t hit the back of the cubby hole. It is also thicker so the bottom of phone clears the center console lip in front of the cubby. Didn’t want to apply those compromises to the universal tray so I’ll just offer this one as a standalone.

One more thing. I’ve had 2 forum members in Europe (Spain and Switzerland) report that their cars did not have the connector behind the glove box. Both V6 first editions. One manual one auto.

Because of this I will include a fuse tap kit in case your car doesn’t have the connector, you know, for Lotus reasons lol.

Functionality is the same so you guys can pick if you want to remove the glovebox or fight the fuse access panel!

I will reach out with payment info once we get to 10 people
