Hi all, I just installed the aerie short shifter, along with the lovely spherical cable end it comes with. I didn’t do the cross gate cable end just because I ran out of time, but I’ll have my mechanic do it and update this.

I also installed the ESWKIT from inokinetic, along with inokinetic’s bollock shifter.

It’s extremely hard to get photos of the ESWKIT installation, which frankly was a bit of a pain to do.

The aerie spherical cable ends are just gorgeous, from Japan, really nice.

The aerie kit took a long time to arrive, but the company was communicative via WhatsApp, and they refunded me half the shipping expense.

I haven’t had much chance to use it (it’s still stationary).

Will report back with thoughts

I've been really interested in the ESW Kit. Can't wait for the update.. much appreciated.

Didn't even know about the bollock shifter. I was generally happy with the stock shifter and wasn't really interested in changing it.. but this bollock shifter... I'm actually considering.

So, the eswkit install, here is a pro tip: put a zip tie thru the hole in the corner of the three weights and loop it around a hose in the general area. So no weights can fall into the chasm, and also it’s easier to finagle the weights onto the bolt stack.

The net result of these 3 mods is a much better shift action.

I’m sure it would be even better if I had time/energy/patience to do cross gate cable end.

The aerie kit is really well made. It was worth the wait.

Just subjectively, it feels like the added mass of the eswkit and the bollock gives the leverage to overcome the extra effort required by the short shifter, if that makes sense.

The aerie short shifter is a fixed reduction and it feels perfect. I liked that there was no adjustability because I felt that removed a variable which could
Loosen over time or add more slop in the action.

Under load, the stock motor and transmission mounts are still wobbling around, so the shift action is less clean than when parked.

No other manual I’ve had presents this way. I’ve had 5 manuals across 4 brands.

Perhaps it’s the transverse engine. Idk.

I am hopeful that the cross gate cable and and the various mounts will provide the last improvement here.

I’m really happy with the progress.

The first step was adjusting the reverse lockout piece under the shift lever.
