Finally Lotus is called Lotus in China

Been called "Lu-Te-Si" for several years now. They finally got that trademark back. This is according to their CEO at the Chengdu Auto Show. Updates to come.

wheels forum so quiet... OK I ordered a set of forged rims.

Was going to get 19s but turns out it's illegal in my country (as usual?). So going with 20s but will go up slightly in tire size (side wall 7mm taller) for a bit more comfort. Overall diameter goes up 2.3%, well within the 3% rule. Should fill out the wheel wells a bit better. Also...

    Getting the Emira under 1400kg?

Came across some Colin Chapman quotes lately, such as "Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere." So that got me thinking, with the current Emira being sometimes criticized as too porky, what are the best ways to lighten it in your...

19" rims/smaller tires bad idea? Any pic of Emira on 19s?

Been playing with the idea of going with 19 inch wheels and a slightly smaller tire size than stock (eg 255/35/19 or 235/40/19) which lowers ride height (and increases fender gap) by 5mm~9mm. Assuming no suspension change at this point. Am ok with the ride height drop but not too sure about...

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

The sport suspension on my 'Mira has turned out a bit too bouncy for my taste on real world roads, and am trying to to decide among 3 options: A. Get 255/35/20-305/30/20 tires and get 3-4mm extra tire height. Probably won't do very much, and will raise the (already rather high) ride height by...

Just got a call from Lotus re 6-9 mos delay for i4 Emira

Can still take delivery in Q4 '22 if I switch to manual V6, at 30% more (circa $190K w/ taxes). This is in Shenzhen, China. Apparently HK prices are far steeper. But it's not all bad news. They will pay for my first year insurance.

How many Evijas have been sold?

And how many do you think will have been sold when all is said and done? Wouldn't it be a bit awkward if they end up selling very few of these? Reason I am asking is that I feel the brand cannot really support the kind of pricing so I am curious from a business/branding perspective what...

    Emira Wheel Gap Discussion

The calculation was done based on the ratio between the rim-to-fender distance against the rim diameter. If you thought I just literally took the number of pixels and converted into a measurement, that's not the case at all. In terms of pixels, the gap on the green car is more than double...

    Goodyear or Michelin durability ???

Won't be using the car on track (probably). Will be mostly for leisure/fun purposes. Cup2s are much higher end and costly so a better deal because the price is the same for FE. However, it's been said that Cup2s wear out pretty fast. I have seen 10,000-20,000kms quoted for the CUP2s...

Toyota 2GR-FE engine vs. BMW B58 (Supra) engine

It's all really weird. Toyota is using BMW's engine on its new Supra, Lotus is using Merc and Toyota engines on its new Emira… Some say gas cars are having a big orgy now that EVs are taking over anyway. But the question remains, which is the better engine, the Toyota 2GR engine and BMW B58?

    Emira redesigned by Ferrari/McLaren designer

Not sure if this has been posted... but Frank Stevenson who designed the F430 and McLaren P1 among others, have put together a modified Emira design. He did say the changes are more a matter of personal taste and was highly complimentary towards the design job by the Lotus team. What do you...
