What year is your i4?Had my car in for a service today and one of several updates was for the transmission, I did ask the service manager what changes it made, he rattled off maybe half a dozen different things, but the only ones I can remember I think were, faster downshifts when in manual mode, more of a pronounced difference between touring and sports mode and something to do with power delivery when pulling away, sorry that’s the only ones I can remember, I’ll attach a copy of the service doc showing the update number, perhaps someone can tell if this is a new update or an old one.

2024 FEWhat year is your i4?
To tell you the truth it was pouring down on the way home so was taking it easy, I did try it in manual and there didn’t seem to be any delay when changing down, however I don’t normally drive in manual so it would be quite hard for me to gauge if it’s improved or not, but as I say the downshifts seemed quick. What are your thoughts? Any difference?
Still waiting in the US....not betting on Lotus changing much as their ultimate goal is to protect the powertrain. I know this is a bit counterintuitive but when downshifting, I'll goose the gas to bring revs up, then hit the paddle, shifts are very quick. Not a great strategy on track but on the back roads there's some satisfaction.i have the latest transmission update done on my car in July 2026. To be honest, i dont feel that there was any major differences, if any, its due to placebo effect.
The Lag or delayed problem between shifting from D to R or R to D is still the same, its never a shift effort thing. I would still need to sometimes, in fact most times, shift the gear twice to tell it to get into Reverse or Drive.
Kinda disappointed to be honest. The DCT transmission on the Emira is one of the car's performance weaknesses.

Doc I've been meaning to ask....I believe you were an early jb4 adopter as am I. Is there a significant difference between the stage 1 vs piggyback?...and Lotus is waiting on Mercedes to have update for all platforms using this tranny before releasing any update(at least from what I am told).

I ran JB4 + methanol and now run the latest Inokinetic tune. The methanol allowed more high rpm power for obvious reasons (it's like 110 octane). The Inokinetic is smoother and there is no CPC modulation until 5th gear, where the JB4 had lots of CPC modulation in any gear at any throttle input, at any rpm. Terry was fantastic to work with, super attentive and responsive, but ultimately the typical differences between a piggyback and proper ecu tune applies. I also had some issues with my JB4 that beached my car several times (again not really a JB4 or Terry issue) and decided to just remove. Both had similar torque, the JB4 had higher redline power...but the butt dyno says the Inokinetic is faster - and it's not faster because I'm just running 91 gas with no methanol right now. It's just power delivery that makes it seems so torque-y.Doc I've been meaning to ask....I believe you were an early jb4 adopter as am I. Torque kicks in a lot sooner which make the whole rpm range works smoother and effortless.I ran JB4 + methanol and now run the latest Inokinetic tune.
