The people have spoken: Emira is cooler than a Huracan

I think the Perf Spyder is a particularly unbalanced example of the breed. But the Emira definitely punches above its weight class on the design! Engine sound though is a different story. The N/A V10 is magic.
Hey, long time! Great to hear from you. I’m back in So Cal now at least for the time being. Pics were taken in a location you probably recognized, Newcastle Golf Club looking out towards Seattle. And yes, I realize this Huracan is probably exaggerated. Was gorgeous inside though. Hope you’re still enjoying yours. The photogs who I met by accident told me they’d give me a link once they published the pics and I bugged them for weeks after but they went dark on me. 🙁

I already have a beautiful woman’s approval (most days anyway), so I’m good there! My wife was actually the one who pushed my to pull the trigger and buy my Emira!
FWIW, ditto; my wife told me to “just go get it already”. I respect her opinion so naturally I had to oblige. The hardest decision was color. I went for subtle and elegant but the 12 yo in me wants the attention grabbing isotope green.

It’s probably a good thing they didn’t have any of the wilder colors available when I got my FE2. I am very happy with Osmium Silver, and honestly I think it will age very well.

However…

I just might have gone for the orange or purple that are now available. I have pretty restrained taste in most things, but this car is a bit of an alter ego for me. I didn’t buy it to get compliments or attention, but I must confess that I do enjoy the looks and cell phone pics. I really didn’t anticipate the attention when I bought it. So far, all of it has been positive, and there is nothing I enjoy more than letting a kid sit in it or take a picture of it. I remember doing the same when I was young.

I absolutely DO NOT DESERVE to have this car, as I think nobody is owed anything in life, and many work far harder for far less than what I have. I try to hold onto possession lightly, and appreciate what I have.

I have had the opportunity to explain when someone asks me how I could buy this car, or what I do for a living. I try to emphasize that this is the culmination of decades of work for me, and that student debt, retirement savings, and my kids’ college savings was all prioritized before I put a cent down to order the car. Unfortunately, a lot of kids see a car like our Emira and don’t understand the amount of time and toil it takes most of us to be able to responsibly afford it! I think it can be motivating.

I’m with you! One drive and I knew I had to have one. I purchased Hethel yellow for safety reasons and that has proven a good choice especially in parking lots where I sit way below the line of sight of most cars and all SUV’s. It is fun being noticed but I sometimes don’t drive to events to keep from upstaging the reason for the event. It is how I think it would be like being married to a movie star! She always has to be clean and have her makeup on while out in public. It can be annoying with all the attention sometimes. I really don’t want people thinking that I have a lot of money and am bragging. I just really enjoy the driving feel of this car. I’ve always been a drive by feel driver. At 78 yrs. it is helping me stay healthy and in shape because I have to hand wash it.View attachment 74127View attachment 74128
“I purchased Hethel yellow for safety reasons”
LOL what a hoot! I should have tried that one on my wife when she told me I was too old to pull off yellow!

“I sometimes don’t drive to events to keep from upstaging the reason for the event”
I know that feeling well!

“I really don’t want people thinking that I have a lot of money and am bragging.”
Exactly. But many people will assume this straightaway no matter what. One of the perils of driving automotive art I guess. Hopefully my +1 will learn to ignore it over time and know that it comes from people who don’t truly know you.

“At 78 yrs. it is helping me stay healthy and in shape because I have to hand wash it.”
Love it! I’m gonna use that one on my wife too!

Cheers!

Agree on all points. I def would have done purple if it were available when I submitted my spec but I don’t regret my shadow grey with red interior, still pops and I consider it my “flashy” car. If I want something lower profile and “boring” I’ll drive my c63, silver, no one takes a second look at it. Auto trans also easier to drive if I don’t want to engage as much with the car and need to get from A to B.

My wife also said just get it, the only condition was that the purchase would not affect our savings, retirement, 529s, etc… With the price on many new cars soaring, our Emira’s aren’t technically too far out of reach for many with proper financial planning.
