Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so firstly I'd like to say hello everybody, and thanks for the admin for creating this forum!

This thread is probably only relevant to people in the UK.

My question is about the Scorpion S5 tracker which is an optional extra with the Emira. The price if included with purchase adds £459 to the cost.

I didn't know much about trackers, and so googling 'Scorpion S5 tracker' brings up the following website;

where a 'Scorpion S5+' is priced at £379 inc VAT fully fitted.

A difference of £80 and whatever difference the '+' makes.

• S5+ Includes remote engine shutdown and auto immobilisation

So my question is... Is there any benefit to paying more for the S5 tracker from Lotus?

There is an annual subscription cost as well and I believe the first year is included with the Emira, so that possibly explains the pricing

Regarding the tracker option, if it is factory fitted does that mean it won’t be discoverable by thieves, as in, it can be deep rooted within the chassis perhaps?

It can be discovered with the correct electrical equipment. Organised crimes specialising in stealing high value cars will have this, common crims dump it somewhere remote and turn up 3-4 days later to see if the car is still there, I.e it doesn’t have a tracker.

I’m going to buy one that I hide in the car and alerts me when it leaves my destination, all done through App on phone. At least I know if my car has been taken by your average crim and where it is, far cheaper than 400 odd quid but won’t save me any insurance.

Will the Emira have any tracking built in anyway maybe?
I can track where my Yaris has been and where it currently is at all time via the App

I had the same tech on my 2007 BMW via the BMW App. Good point on if the Lotus has it!

For those of us who are ordering the Vehicle Tracker, I had confirmation today that the following will be installed in the Emira (note that this package comes with a Lifetime Subscription):

That's different to what I was told previously, which was installation plus first year subscription included, which is still a decent discount. Good news if it's actually Lifetime, but that's £531 off list price so I'd be inclined to double check.

Thats in line with what was mentioned to us Tom .... one thing.... think you have to let them know your going europe.... have heard some have had cars immobilise ? not sure how true this is ? Another thing i asked about was the Key/remote..... if like some new cars, it turns the remote off/stops transmitting after 5 mins of being set down, so it can not be cloned

Well ... I'm thinking to get an Apple Air Tag (or maybe 2 or 3 or 4) in different places somewhere inside the Emira ... so I can track and trace my Emira if needed.
And in the worst case someone will find one Air tag ... there will be another 2 or 3 inside the Emira.
I guess this will be cheaper compared to the original tracker.

Not sure that will work??? Your passengers will get warnings on their iPhone that they have an unauthorised tracker near them

i plan sticking my mother in law in the little boot inside the golf bag.
Will bring the 7 iron in the back seat just in case she decides to step out.
If burglars still succeed I will pay them to give me the car back without her!

Ypu´re right.
Tried selling her in Wallapop for 1 Euro and everybody said OVERPRICED!

At the end got divorced, and finally got rid of two for the price of one. Expensive though
