Hi All,

Is anyone aware of a source of replacement dust boots for the brake pistons? Since I track my car, mine have gotten cooked and crumbled. They're the texture of dry leaves and crack when you touch them.

Lotus only sells the whole caliper, no dust boots in their parts catalog.

Before I take apart a front and rear brake to measure, I'm hoping someone wise on this forum might have already found the right part.

I’m interested as well.
Their parts are usually shared with other car brands to save on R & D. Call AP racing or Essex parts and ask them.
Really Lotus, get a whole new exhaust just to get a valve controller replaced???
Take off the quarter panel just to change a broken taillight???
Spend over 10 hours to work on the engine to improve the cooling that you have now corrected???
Detuning our engines with software updates???
That’s just my small list of “Really Lotus!”
But, Damn you Lotus for making such a sexy and well handling car!!!

Racing Brake provided feedback on which AP Racing calipers are on the Emira:

Front caliper:
CP7545, Piston: 31.8/41.3mm, Pad: 149x61x16.8mm

Rear caliper:
CP6692, Piston: 31.8/38.1mm, Pad: 130x55x16.8mm

I also see they offer rebuild parts, perhaps reaching out to them would be useful:

Shouldn’t this be covered under warranty?
It shouldn’t matter if car is tracked because they designed it to be used for this purpose.

I don't know. I'm not going to go to the dealer for every little thing because I want them to forthcoming in fixing big things :)

Regardless, the OEM dust boot is not adequate for too much tracking. Mine is falling apart after 5 track days. I need a better solution, and the blue silicon ones from RB are great, once I know the diameter.

Let us know what you upgrade to and if it’s not available I’m sure KitKat will design something…TBD

LOL, I can't design dust boots -- you'll have to buy those from RB -- just pull them out and measure, you can survive without the dust boots in place for a little while just clean off the bores.

Track wear and tear is not covered by Lotus warranty. The RB high temp ones are what you'd want if you'd like to retain dust boots.

Yeah, exactly. They're not a critical part. The Elise doesn't even have them. It just lets you go longer between brake rebuilds by keeping fine dust out of the piston seals. I'm not as torn up about it as my dust boots are :)
