I don't have an i4 so can't offer much help, but I think it would be good to make sure all four (?) connectors are actually connected.Hi
Jb4 install yesterday.....5 sec after fire up, cel came on. Jb4 was locked and needed to submit ticket to unlock. Decreased power as of now. Any thoughts?
I hear you, but the V8 AMG engines do I believe come in various trim levels, turbo sizes etc. I’m pretty sure there is much more than just a tune separating the lowest power level AMG V8 and the higher power variants.Even though it may be the same engine, it's possible so much of it has changed that it's power output could be drastically different. Just because this engine makes more power in other applications, doesn't mean it can handle that in this application.
Matt Armstrong tried this with a GLC63 engine swap with his DBX. Both have the same M177 Engine, but when he broke them down, virtually none of it was the same. I think only the cylinder block was identical.
are you able to clear codes using the new app? I cant get it to connect when the car is in accessory mode so swap out using my bluetooth reader...small pain but annoyingUpdate....jb4 mobile unlocked the software which allowed us to update firmware and clear codes....not sure why burger released the jb4 in this condition but I digress
Good stuff - much more power and the thing that sticks out the most is how the jb4 made my car feel feather light. I've had many fast cars but the tunes to those cars made my heavy cars very fast heavy cars
The lotus with the jb4 is different....very happy so far
We couldn't do it with scanner but cleared with the obd cable that came with jb4are you able to clear codes using the new app? I cant get it to connect when the car is in accessory mode so swap out using my bluetooth reader...small pain but annoying
Probably need an intercooler upgrade to keep it from running hot, but then you would also need a new ecu tune. Catch 22 there.I hear you, but the V8 AMG engines do I believe come in various trim levels, turbo sizes etc. I’m pretty sure there is much more than just a tune separating the lowest power level AMG V8 and the higher power variants.
With the M139 (none electric turbo variant) I’m pretty certain they are all the same engine, with same turbo, no matter A45S, 360hp Emira or 400hp Emira SE.
However, I suspect the A45S running circa 420hp, will be more reliable long term and in all weather conditions on track, compared to a 360hp Emira, that’s been tricked via a piggy back to deliver that same 420hp.
Power is important, but so is good tuning and properly calibrated protection strategies to protect the engine when running at high boost. I’d personally be happy to run the JB4 on my 400hp I4, but I’d be nervous to hammer it on track on a hot day.
This is likely unrelated. Very common among cars both with and without JB4.Hi,
Anybody get "limited telematic" message after jb4 install?
I’ve periodically seen you post your troubles with your car. I wonder if some of it is due to a potential grounding issue. Hopefully your car will be trouble free sooner than later.I
Got that message after installing an Li-ion battery. Garage, and others on here, reckon that a software update will fix it. I’m booked in for the update on Friday, but the message has gone away now!

I believe disconnecting battery for jb4 install triggered error.....it hasn't returnedI

Map3/4 got more torque in the mid low range, but eventually gets the same final output in the high rpm, due to the limitations of the fuel you choose.Has anyone here run map3 yet? Any difference from 2?
Only for TurboWhats that map 3/4? Is that a custom tune? Or do you need some special fuel for that?
See the Dyno chart in post #2 of this thread. The fuel is specified in the legend.Whats that map 3/4? Is that a custom tune? Or do you need some special fuel for that?
No oil temp for Emira, only water tempUpdate on my JB4 + WMI setup for the AMG Emira. Been logging a bunch in Sport and Track.
TLDR: 490hp, car RIPS
After about 700 miles of testing so far I have settled on some settings that are stable. I might lower the boost additive to 40, will test that soon just to see if it tames overboost near redline. The methanol is providing exceptional cooling and anti-knock...I'm seeing on average IAT 10-15F above ambient after repeated pulls and hours of canyon driving. There's no observable heat soak and engine water temps are low.
Setup
- JB4 on Map 7 custom tuned at DRS with Terry's remote help
- Boost Additive set to 45 (this is how much boost is requested as methanol spray ramps up)
- Burger WMI kit, 100% flow at WOT, methanol ramps up at 15 psi
- High-flow cat, Weistec charge pipe, Aerie exhaust
Boost by Mode
- Sport: ~30–31 psi sustained
- Track: ~32–33 psi sustained
Power (SuperFlow Dyno) - usually the shop uses a 20% loss on their dyno which is verified with all the cars I have used there (Elise, Alfa). To be conservative I also show 15% loss. So let's call it averaged, the tune is making around 490HP. My car stock (charge pipe+hi flow cat+exhaust) was showing 342 whp on this dyno for reference, and is probably making around 415hp stock. A pick up of around 66whp/80hp -
Pump 91 Cali gas + map 7 (methanol on)
Intake Air Temps (IAT) with WMI
- Wheel: ~407 whp / 370 wtq
- 15% loss: ~479 hp / 435 ctq
- 20% loss: ~509 hp / 462 ctq
- WOT median IAT: ~83–91°F across recent logs (ambient 75-80F)
- IAT stays flat under load once WMI is active, no heat-soak climb
- Meth flow = 100% at WOT, consistent across pulls
Timing / Knock Health
- Average timing under load: typically low-teens to high-teens
~12-18° average with clean recoveries- No pattern of sustained timing pull, and no throttle closures under boost
Notes
- Rear O₂ (P2270/P2271): shows up intermittently because of the high-flow cat + WMI. ECU trips lean or rich codes from the cat, previously before the JB4 it was showing rich only and the normal efficiency code.
- Stock my car was giving me overboost code when we installed the Weistec charge pipe and hi flow cat. We will recheck boost sensor connection but everything seems to be working fine with the JB4. I get overboost code in Track mode if I trip the rev limiter for longer than a couple seconds so I have been intentionally short shifting around 6500. With the dash delay and the car just sounding like it's going to explode at that point I feel more comfortable short shifting a little, power curve shows no real benefit maxing out revs each gear.
- Engine Oil Temp channel does NOT work in my JB4 app when I have live gauges going, anyone else see engine oil temp active?
- updated bluetooth module and app do not start live connection until the wheels are moving (might just be weird glitch on my car)
I'll take some photos of the methanol system and post the same data in a separate thread since V6 owners will get great benefit from this as well.
