JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

They did have the same CPC issue, but it's been cracked ... 600hp would be perfect

Well, there’s your go to gentlemen. I read in a car magazine (perhaps it was via our Forum contribution) of two guys who tuned their AGM 45s to push out that 600 hp plus huge torque. It might have even been covered on YouTube. I’m sure they live in jolly ole Britain. Surely someone knows someone who knows who they are and can make contact. They don’t need to necessarily know why the information is being sought. But most car tuning enthusiasts are more than happy to pass on what methods, ideas or solutions they have discovered. If it was a little country like New Zealand, we’d have that info in seconds.
So best of British to whoever is willing to follow this up.
As a side point, the inquirer might ask how many times the engine has had to be rebuilt (if at all) bearing in mind 600hp from a 1900cc engine is phenomenal.

To be clear, no one has cracked the CPC within the Lotus Emira application. Trust me, the second someone does, the entire world will know because everyone keeps hunting for it.

Instead of cracking the CPC, how about LSD for the i4?

Yes not in this platform. What I wrote about it being cracked was in context to the A45.

Is it just the electronic setup dictating parameters for the AMG transmission that is different between our Lotus vehicles and Merc bred cars? Or is there a total difference in the actual transmission design to both?

the former, we just have Lotus spec'ed programming for how the DCT operates - I have never seen videos on the A45S with the lag in downshift clicks like we do. The TCU IS available to be programmed however...Brent my tuner from Inokinetic just hasn't started any of that work until the CPC is cracked.

Pardon my ignorance when it comes to the electronic ‘doobries’ that make our engines buzz around. As you’ll see the following questions are undoubtedly coming from a layman, but here goes.
I understand the AMG transmission clutches are governed against slippage by the CPC or some other electronic ‘doobry’. Is the same CPC unit used in other cars e.g. A45s, but simply programmed differently?
If so, is there any benefit studying that or other associated units that exert control over the transmission and comparing those units to the programming of the Emira i4, to try and identify where the difference is and possibly why.
See, I did say layman. Perhaps throw in naive also!

Lotus placed encryption on top of the Mercedes CPC - the tuners can write to our CPC but they can not read from it. So there is no base software to then tune since no one has read the existing code. These modules have already been cracked and tuned in the Mercedes community for Mercedes cars but that hasn't yet happened for our cars.

Thank you so much, Kaz and others, for the enlightenment regarding this CPC issue.

Also to be clear there are plenty of happy tuned cars out there making great power - I've got many miles on mine with the ecu tune. We're just all at the limit of what can be done for torque and hp, and also for context "more" is like 530hp. I don't think there are AMG A45S cars with a lot more than that at stage 2, so we're chasing about an additional 30-50hp on top of what the tunes give now. It's not nothing but it's not like we'll gain another 200hp by cracking the CPC easily. I think the next step is adding more fuel and changing the turbo, and after that engine rebuilds with higher displacement, etc.

Do you happen to have a dyno of your car? Did you have shinoo do it?

hrmm can't find Inokinetic dyno but the latest version is different anyways, but on the V1 it was about +100ft lbs and +45hp. The new tune might be a little more top end power but this is capped from 91 gas. I have a JB4 +Meth tune dyno somewhere I will try and find, that was around 500ft lbs and 500hp with methanol - both these dynos looked similar just the inokinetic loses top end because of 91 gas. The chart on 93 would probably keep going up a little more, maybe +60-65hp. We didn't do a dyno on the latest version of Inokinetic but butt dyno says much smoother torque and more top end power, and much less fighting the CPC. I won't dyno again until CPC is cracked and we tune for methanol again on the Inokinetic tune. I turned it on and the car was happy for about 2 days until the ecu figured out what was happening and then it had severe stumbling so it's off now.
