If there is, it should be minimal to non-existent because the whole point is to vent it out of the turbo and into open air. However, I know most have just installed them out of the box. If you read above and on the GFB website, the coin slot on top adjusts "how much" to vent out. You can play with this to control how much noise (and volume of air) you want vented out. Perhaps they are all shipping with different setting when assembled? Very possible given this is a feature that can be leveraged by anyone and the expectation by GFB is that each purchaser will tweak.

There should be a guide on the GFB website for setting it properly but when you tighten that it increased spring preload which can be needed for higher boost level engines or loosen it to decrease for lower boost level. If you tighten it too much you can get "boost creep" issues etc.

Funny I hate the turkey flutter and love the ptttsh lol btw it's my understanding that the flutter is not a good thing. That's backpressure into the compressor. It's not ideal but complies with emissions req. and lowers the sound

This. Several people have alluded to this change over the years as being completely emissions related and not performance/engine efficiency related.

That's good info.....according to video it seems there's really only one setting that works the best.....turn that screw down!

I'm a bit sad to say, to me, it gets rid of the turbo flutter. Or it overwhelms it to the point that I personally cannot hear it anymore. I think the flutter noise (which may not be as productive) is a lot more pleasing and characterful than a loud psshhhh - which reminds me a bit more of a turbo diesel city bus or air brakes or a bagged car. Here's my footage.

The install is easy as pictured above and also no errors after a short drive. Dunno if it negatively affects mpg (due to some info of maybe it makes the car run a bit more rich) or anything else that could be negative longer term (nothing that's going to trigger a light).

I would love a super loud STUTUTUTUTUTU...but that's compressor surge and not good for the turbo...but sounds so good
