Looking at that thumbnail with the cars nose to nose, the Emira looks more purposeful. It looks like it's moving forward even when it's sitting still. Visually the NSX looks like it was designed to just sit there. There's no sense of movement in the side profile.

Russell Carr and his team really and truly knocked it out of the park when they came up with this design. In this image in particular, the Emira gives me the impression of a Hot Wheels car that's for real lol.

And another very disappointing laptime of a (komotec tuned) Emira.

Almost 3 sec slower than a stock GT4 with 55hp less, 2 seconds slower than a stock 981 GT4 with 90 HP less, 0.5sec slower than a 4.0 GTS.

Mind you, its a tuned komotec with supposably 475 HP…

I don't understand German but were the Porsche PDK or Manual? This will be a HUGE difference.

Both manual (FYI: 981 wasnt available with a pdk)

GTS PDK, but I just checked and it was not even the 4.0, it was the 4 pot with 365PS. This is ridicolous🤦‍♂️

ya that is odd... something doesn't seem right. Emira GT4's with 400 BHP (same engine, different supercharger and gearbox) seem to do very well in the GT4 racing series.

Yes its pretty weird, most of the published lap times fall very short in comparison with its rivals.

Jay Emm’s latest video

I like JayEmm, and many of his criticisms are valid, but his bitterness towards Lotus is getting the better of him.

Every other sports car manufacturer takes the same iterative approach to chassis design. Porsche and Ferrari take literally decades to release a new architecture, while boldly proclaiming each parts bin special as a "brand new car". JayEmm is holding Lotus to a standard that doesn't exist.

And the Lotus showroom on Piccadilly has been an beautiful space for a couple of years now, with a continual line of tourists queueing out the door. I've taken my son to see an Evija, Emira and F1 car there.

I thought most of the video was very good, apart from these two points I think he was spot on. I just hope someone at Lotus management watch this and try to understand and learn.

I do agree mostly with your first point but... the Emira chassis is not "all new" it is an iteration of the Evora - 99% of cars these days are iterations of previous cars - this is a good thing as you learn from your mistakes. But Lotus were a bit disingenuous about how they sold this. Just because other manufactures describe everything as a "brand new car" does not mean that everyone should; I would prefer it if Lotus treated customers as more intelligent and discerning. I think many customers would take this as treating the customers with a bit of respect. Also stating the the original price would not change after they got into difficulty was a mistake - most customers appreciate honesty even when it is not good news.

"The Emira is built on the recently announced new Lotus Sports Car Architecture. It uses the same pioneering Lotus bonded extruded aluminium chassis technology which debuted on the Elise. However, for the Emira, every dimension is different to any previous Lotus chassis and it is fabricated in an all-new facility – Lotus Advanced Structures – in Norwich, just a few miles from Hethel."
