Hi guy’s,
I fitted the jB4 to the I4 2.0 turbo this afternoon,
The fitting instructions are very vague and wrong!
Burger say that there are 4 screws to remove from the charge cooler to get to the sensor there’s actually 6.
BUT you do not need to remove any screws to get to the sensor harness, you will need a very bright light to see the location of the sensor plug and you will need to make some tools to enable the removal re fitting of the plug.
I bent a long screwdriver to a right angle and angle ground the tip to a point to enable the removal of the original sensor plug (see photos 1 & 2 ).
This tool enables easy disconnection of the plug.
Once disconnected its is impossible to re -plug in the JB4 sensor without fabricating another tool to enable the re connection of this plug (see photos 3 & 4 ).
I used a coat hanger bent to form a helping hand shape so i could offer it up to the socket and soft insert it, i then used my fabricated long pick to push the connector home with a satisfying click once fully home.
The job took 3 hours to complete from start to finish, i used ramps and worked off the floor.
Now i have completed the job and know the location of the sensor plug and which tools are needed i can safely say that i will be able to reciprocate and complete the job within 45 minuets.
I ran the car only around the block to see if everything was in order no CEL etc, i could tell immediately that’s there was a significant power gain, i was in tour running map 3.
Once i get the OBD 11 cable fitted (tomorrow) i will come back and write up my findings but i know i am in for some fun future driving !!!.
Cheers ALB
