Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

So subjectively judged, did it feel like the proclaimed power gains? I take any improvement over current delivery, just curious about some feedback. Out of town now, will install mine Mo/Tue.

It's hard to say because I only ran it up to the local pub and back, where the max speed limit is 40, so I had keep it to short bursts and shut the fun down by 80 . I trust the dyno results, and imagine the power will be even more apparent at speed via roll-on vs. off the line. For me, this is where it matters as I never hard launch the car anyway. I'll get it out again today on the freeway and give another update later. What bothers me most, and this is not something the tune caused, is that the digital tach is slow to response vs actual RPMs, and I think this may now make it even more so. The other thing I was going to test is the digital HP display in the dash to see if it shows higher than 400hp now that the tune is in. Again, something I'll check on the freeway later today.

If you want to put driveshafts under the most stress, you put them in a transversely mounted, effectively rear-engined vehicle like the Emira. They're already a weak point in stock form just from a physics standpoint with the 61/39 weight distribution and awkward mounting angles. Add an increased rearward weight shift under a hard launch with the extra power and you're asking for trouble sadly.

I see this as an excellent opportunity for some aftermarket (possibly carbon?) versions in the future. Decreased rotating mass and increased torsional strength would give me a huge peace of mind if I was running a tune.

Ok, 2nd update. Please note this is all feedback from someone who's not an expert on HP, Torque, etc. and who didn't have a stopwatch with me in the car (all seat of the pants feedback). I was able to get the car out onto a stretch of open freeway today and test it at higher speeds. I did several 50-120mph runs switching between Map0 and Map2. It's definitely faster! I mentioned in my prior post that it felt more visceral, it's even more so at higher speed. The exhaust and intake are louder than before. Dare I say it makes the entire experience more hooligan? I feel like it requires another level of attention vs before when driving, which is a great thing...... I f***ing love this car!

If it's like what happened after I installed the Eventuri, the ECU will begin adjusting to it over the next 100 miles or so. If you're going to run it in Map1, I'd suggest leaving it in that map for the next 100 miles and see if it gradually gets stronger.

That is great, so removing the wheel well cover is all that needs to get access from this side, how much on the cabin side did you had to remove to get proper access?

It look like the main harness is passing thru. I tought the hole was empty and not used.

Follow these steps, do it on both sides not just one. This should reveal it all I think. I believe there are two grommets, one for an existing harness and a blank one. I’m still working on a tutorial for that but trying to not touch cars for the weekend haha

I tried, but it was near impossible to multi-task trying to (a) watch the power meters while also (b) watching the tach to see and not overrun redline (c) trying to shift, and (d) trying watch the road in front of me all at the same time. I did see the torque figure get up to 382 at one point, but the HP was all over the place. I don't recall seeing HP go over 400 though, that I do know, but I'm not sure if that's because I was full throttle under hard acceleration? Again, I don't claim to be an expert on HP and Torque, but I think HP would go up higher if I was at full throttle and 170mph and just maintaining that speed? Someone else here may be able to comment on this more intelligently than I can.

You can theoretically get max HP in any gear, but typically you don't get there in first gear since redline comes up fast. Maybe not even in second gear? I'd say by third or fourth gear, if you keep the throttle buried and accelerate all the way up to redline, while filming the whole thing, you will see/experience peak HP.

Around here are octane jumps from 89 to 93.
I would also assume there’s no issue running map one on 93 octane.
I’d like to do baby steps working the horsepower curve up
And I’ve always used premium grade or 93 octane on my Evora and my Emira

My JB4 is suppose to be ship next tuesday and I’m ready to pass the OBD2 cable from the cabin to the engine bay as soon as I get it.

I did not have to remove the wheel and the inside fender.

I used an electrical cable and I will use it to pass the JB4 cable thru.

The wait is almost over.

The JB4 definitely confuses the car's calculation of hp/torque on the dash. I did a few runs at full throttle from 50-85 in 3rd and kept an eye on torque, since in stock the torque figure plants itself at 420 for a while. On both maps 1 and 2, torque never rose above 400 (though it was certainly higher), and the number bounced around quite a bit.
