Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

It will not heat soak for short street pull or 1/4 - 1/2 mile drag race but for tracking it is another story. Heat soak and durability could become a problem over time if tracked.
I think it's fair to say that the answer to this question would require testing that hasn't yet been performed.

The intercooler was engineered with some boost limits in mind but we don't know the margin that has been built into the design. We aren't massively increasing boost here and there have been factory tunes to 430 hp with this motor so odds are in our favor. If you find that 0-60 times begin to increase after a series of runs, the platform would benefit from a larger or more efficient intercooler but no one knows that at this stage.

I look at the Emira GT4 platform for inspiration as to what would be race worthy and that car includes a motor with forged pistons, stronger rods and a larger Harrop supercharger capable of delivering higher boost. Time will tell about the durability of the factory platform with a JB4 tune in place but the 91 octane tune isn't far from what the factory delivered in the Evora 430.

Nice, i should have waited a few more weeks as I have the TDI unit. This Jp4 looks better. As far as installation its a pian in the ass with the Turbo. I uploaded the install on another thread which should be the same as for the JP4. That one boost sensor is a bitch that's just above the AC compressor. As to performance, the Turbo US or SE will always be faster than the v6. The DCT alone is a HUGE advantage. I've driven a 6 speed Elise for 20+ years and I ain't missing it at all. The DCT is so much faster and more modern. I am quite enjoying it. The video showing a race between the two models is shocking
Do you have a link to this i4 v V6 comparison race video please?

I think 430ish is definitely safe since the evora achieved the same on pretty much the same platform. GT4 may be good for inspiration, but they build those race engines to last a race season (or less), not really for the long run.

I'd be inclined to run a higher HP setup on the street and lower HP setup for any serious track time. Fortunately, it seems very easy to swap maps using the mobile connection.

I seem to remember reading somewhere awhile ago that Lotus increased the strength of the internals on the V6 manual trans for the Emira. They didn't just use the same gears that the Evora had. The Evora trans could handle up to 368 ft lb (500 nm) of torque, so if you stay within that limit it should be safe. Beyond that... who knows.

Yes, Lotus did indeed reinforce the internals of the 6-speed manual transmission offered with the V6 engine in the Emira. This was a key upgrade to ensure the transmission could handle the engine's power and torque output effectively, especially when considering potential aftermarket modifications. The Emira's V6 engine, a supercharged 3.5-liter, is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The reinforcement of the manual transmission's internals was a strategic move by Lotus to enhance the reliability and longevity of the manual gearbox, particularly as many enthusiasts prefer the engaging, direct feel of a manual transmission.

Not doubting this, but it seems strange that the Evora, prior to the strengthened gearbox, was available with an output of 430BHP and its replacement, with the strengthened gearbox, has 30 BHP less.

might have been a CARB issue and it was easier to lower the output

Source? Reinforced the internals from the Evora or reinforced the base Toyota/ASIN transmission?

Agreed. But it makes sense if Lotus were originally planning on higher hp / higher price versions later on - would give them plenty of room without having to worry about the gearbox.

Obviously a lot has changed since the Emira was first announced, so who knows?

As an aside, I can’t stand AI generated prose. So obviously not human and frankly lame. It’s got a long way to go. Either that or they’re relying on us oldies who know how real people speak and interact dying off and then this constipated and childish way of speaking will be “normal”…

So interested to see this out in the wild. If things go well this is a "no brainer" mod for me.

Anyone have any feedback on difficulty of the install for the V6 manual?

The Burger site has changed to install guide coming soon. I think we have to wait it out a bit.

Good news in general and good for the jb4.
