That in part explains why my 718 felt noticeably quicker than my Emira does. It would be nice to have a real 400+bhpStock v6 has developed anywhere between 330whp and 385whp on various dynos we’ve seen.
I would have that even if there wasn't a power increase just to hear the awesome top end noise a little longer and not smash into the wall of the rev limiter so often.I'd like to see the redline increased.
According to the JB4 FAQ on their website, resetting the redline is not something that a piggyback tuner can address. That would require a re-flash of the factory ECU or a replacement ECU unfortunately.I'd like to see the redline increased.
Stock v6 has developed anywhere between 330whp and 385whp on various dynos we’ve seen.
Worth noting that the 400 hp figure quoted by the factory is measured at the crank versus the dynojet figures shown here which measure hp at the wheels after the parasitic losses of the drivetrain.Quite large gains for a supercharger, especially without any rev limit increase.
Why does the stock car only show 366HP? Is that all the V6 develops?
I hadn’t heard of JB4 tuning before but a quick google review has really good things to say about them and they’ve been around for a while.
You're right. These will be measured at the wheel. I know some dynos guess losses to give an engine output.Worth noting that the 400 hp figure quoted by the factory is measured at the crank versus the dynojet figures shown here which measure hp at the wheels after the parasitic losses of the drivetrain.
Do some reading in the modified 2GR community, MR2 community, Lotustalk.com, frankenstein motorworks etc and you will see these engines live at 500+hp without issue, dont just take one vendors word for it either way.Their 3.5L 93 Oct map as shown in the Dynojet graphs goes to 396 foot-pound, that's 536 Nm for non-eagles. Jubu rates the stock pistons at maximum 500 Nm before you start seeing cracks:
Jubu 460 Kit dials boost back boost:
The primary source of extra power is probably just more boost by distorting the sensor values the stock ECU sees by the JB4 device.
Do with that information what you want. I'm not a mechanic, nor affiliated with anyone, but this is enough for me to skip this.
My car was the test car for the v6 platform. Thanks Greg. A few questions:
1. Is this JB4 kit, compatible "as is" with both the 3rd cat delete and the Eventuri mod?
2. Or just one of them...or none of them?
3. Expected HP increase, with the JB4 kit, in combo with the 3rd cat delete and Eventuri?
4. Or just one of them?
5. Any discount for a Forum group buy...and if so, how many participants would be needed?
6. My only concern (aside from my spouse, who watches the "Emira retirement fund drain") is the stupid tariff, shipping something from the US to Canada. Do you know if that's applied for this type of product?
Enquiring minds want to know. I suspect we'll get answers for #1-4 in due course, for both the V6 and V4 Emira versions. Is that the plan Greg?
BTW, nice to see this JB4 kit. If it delivers as advertised, it looks like a great mod at a much more reasonable price, compared to others. Too bad the redline limiter remains the same...it's SO FRUSTRATING to have the engine suddenly cut out...

I live in the Granada Hills area so right down the 118. Are you familiar with any stations selling 93 by any chance in the vicinity?I brought my v6 to burger on Greg's recommendation to have them do testing for JB4.
So technically i have the first unit.
The 91 map feels like it should have shipped with the car. A lot smoother to drive as well.
I will be testing the 93 map soon.
im actually trying to figure out where i can fill up as well.I live in the Granada Hills area so right down the 118. Are you familiar with any stations selling 93 by any chance in the vicinity?
Downloads the app GasBuddy to see where around you sells 93?im actually trying to figure out where i can fill up as well.
I live in Venice.
i think brentwood has 100 and some places have E85 in west LA.
There used to be a shell station, off the 5 freeway in Burbank at the alameda exit. I will have to swing by there tomorrow to see if they still have it. Where in Brentwood? I work at UCLA and can swing by and check.im actually trying to figure out where i can fill up as well.
