A big shout out to those of you that have your Emiras already, I am collecting mine this weekend but need to get insurance sorted first... can anybody recommend any insurers for the most affordable quotes please? I am male, 45, living in East Sussex, and hold a clean UK license, with no convictions :)

If you just need typical daily driving cover then try Admiral or LV.

If you need something more complex, like track days, business use, modified car etc, then try one of the specialists like Classicline, AIB or Manning.

I would recommend trying confused.com & comparethemarket. Once you have input your details, you can 'tweak' the quotes. Adding a partner can make a big difference. Although my wife doesn't drive whatever sports car is on the drive, it always reduces the premiums when I add her to the policy (I am 59 and she is 56, both full NCD, no convictions).
The other thing you can do is try different miles per annum and excess levels. It takes a bit of fiddling around but I find that you can get a sweet spot. It is odd sometimes how the algos work out the prices as adding more mileage, you would expect to cost more, but it is not always the case.
Another oddity is that keeping the car on the drive can be cheaper than keeping it in the garage. This has been discussed on this forum and it seems that this is due to claims that people make scraping/damaging their cars in the crazily small garages that a lot of UK houses have!
Looking at these comparison sites is a good way of spending a rainy afternoon and there is no shortage of those at the moment especially in my part of the country.

Something else you can do in addition to what @JohnHoward suggests is you swap around your no claims bonus from a cheaper car to the Emira. Or if you have been insured with the same company for a couple of years and haven’t had any claims then you can ask if they will match the no claims discount from another car.

Admiral in the past have given me 3 years no claims on each new car on my policy and then upped it to match my max no claims after the first year.

Many thanks Tom. It may interest you and others to know that Manning came out on top. They were £250 cheaper than LV [the next best quote] for exactly the same policy cover, excess and t's & c's..... it turns out Manning are also underwritten by LV :)

Useful feedback, thanks for sharing.

Manning have insured my Evora S for the last few years but their quote for my GT430 was 50% higher than others, so that’s with Classicline. It often seems pretty random which insurer can do the best deal!

£1400 with Manning but that includes my wife as a named driver and parking on the street until my driveway is finished

Although I need auto, best quote for manual was £330 with RAC via confused .com full NCD, 8,000 miles pa, age 59 + wife 56, parked on drive
Good to know. Hopefully will see my premium drop quite a lot next year when the car is parked on the drive. I'm 45, my wife is 52 and I put 4000 miles pa

Cheap as chips. I think the area you live in has the most impact. I'm 10yrs younger, parked on a drive, full NCD etc..

Just added mine on with direct line , cost £13 for next 7 weeks when my existing policy expires .
Great because my ban will be expired off my licence in the next 4 weeks so I’ll be requoted with clean license.
£623 was the cheapest quote for 57 year old in Cheshire . Garaged with 3 k miles per year

Just an NB, join one of the Lotus car clubs as that may reduce premium further (took 7% off for me). Classicline for me beat Confused.com best quote.

I want to do a few track days a year. Is it loads more to add this to the insurance? Or better to just arrange the insurance on a track by track basis? Sorry if daft question, my first performance / track worthy car.

Shows how random it is my manual £480 with 10k miles and in locked garage. Bit older at 61!!
What doesn't make sense is that if I don't include my wife on the policy (she won't ever drive it unless there was some emergency) the premium just for me with the same insurer is an exta £80 at £410.
As someone else mentioned, it seems postcode has a lot to do with it. Since I moved to my current address, both car and house insurance is noticeably cheaper even though we only moved 20 miles away.
Also interesting is adding my 31 year old son only pushes the premium up to £550. I think if I was an insurance company, I would rather insure you for £480 :ROFLMAO:
