I just clicked over 1k miles so doing my first change and planning Mobil as I've always viewed it as a higher quality oil. Here is the one I'm planning as it meets the MB standard (seems fitting for an MB engine), but love other's thoughts. And a recommended filter?

Also, anyone else changed the oil/filter on the i4? If so, how long should I plan?

There are a few postings on the Forum, about i4 engine oil and some tips on changing the i4 oil/filter, that you may find helpful (good luck!):

I recently ordered (from Mercedes) everything needed for the first oil change on my i4 M139, and here’s what I got:

  • A176 180 08 00 – OEM Oil Filter (A45S AMG)
  • N007603 014106 – Drain plug with washer
  • A000989340911ABAW – Mercedes-Benz Engine Oil SAE 0W-20 MB 229.71 – 7 liters

Everything is OEM and fully compliant with Mercedes-AMG specifications. The oil meets the MB 229.71 standard, which is required for the M139 engine. I went with 7L to be safe — the engine takes around 6,5L with filter but on service usually only 6L are required.

Mobile 1 ESP
0-20
as stated , it meets all MB requirements. Mobile 1 is factory fill I believe for Corvette and Porsche cars ( or so it is advertised ). I say I believe because I have never personally taken a Porsche or Corvette off the showroom floor and had it anaiyzed.
Available at Walmart in 5 qt jugs at a very reasonable price.
I have used Mobile 1 for years in a variety of my personal race and street cars ( hi performance to my daily SUV and my tow vehicles.). Never had any problems.
I don't get all wound up on the " metaphysical " tyraids from home grown oil experts that I see on many car forums claiming the superiority of various other oils.
Mobile 1 is a quallity oil that is periodically upgraded and reformulated , readily available at a reasonible price nationwide from Walmart and has given me excellent service over decades in all types of my vehicles.. So, I stick with it.
.....Let the oil afficianotos begin their rants.......

There is no argument, Mobil 1 for its quality and broad availability. Additionally, if you change the oil like I do every 5K miles, the discussion ends even faster. No oil is in there long enough to degrade materially in any way. Oil is cheap, engines are not.
