Is this really necessary? I get they didn’t like the car… but the snipes continue…..

It's fair game, really. I am not bothered by it. A little drama every now and then can be a good change of pace.

Does it really bother you that much?
Not really, I just think they are being childish… just puts me of a mag I subscribed to for 15 years…

I have cancelled EVO print, will now only read digitally with Apple One subscription service. Car magazines are getting less and less interesting…. Ahhh…. Soooo disappointed.

I preferred the more upmarket Escort myself 😁, the airbags were much bigger
i could never afford an upmarket escort... i've always gone with the models off the street........ I find the ride quality.... no.. sorry..... its late.... i wont go further.....

i actually drove past a yellow mark 2 fiesta on the motorway last week... reconditioned.. doing 80.... looked relatively cool...

I saw an XR2 the other month, brought back memories of friends ragging these around town.

Why do you think it’s a conspiracy? Have you driven any of them?

Maybe they’ve driven the cars and they’re not that good in their opinion?
Just a guess.

Not being funny, but there’s only so much you can do with a old engine and a cable operated gear shift. The Emira infotainment felt like my cheap Skoda holiday hire car. Then add a lot of weight.

It does look pretty though! And it’s not a bad package all round. But just not a the leading edge.

An excellent daily driver though, around town not pushing on.

The letter defending the Emira wasn't even bad. It boiled down to "why does Evo complain about the manual? At least we get one; long live the manuals. If you don't like a manual, there's still a dual clutch."

No response to the letter. But coincidentally, Jethro wrote a column, in the section right after letters, on the greatness of manual transmissions, some greats with them, and how they seem to be resurging. No mention at all about Lotus or the Emira, not that I'm looking for him to respond to it or mention it specifically.

What happen with the infotainment?

Right… I don’t have an issue with that at all… it’s the (obviously) that I think is unnecessary… it’s a shame

its quality in general is questionable.... screen brightness, clarity, anti glare, vibrance and menu system.... I remain hopeful, but I dont think its going to be comparing favourably to any other car costing between 65-80,000 pounds and this, sadly enough, is an issue for me, but one I will have to live with I guess.
