Trunk lock out

Soon after delivery I noticed my trunk lid would not open using the key fob.. After a little research I found out there's a button just above the license plate.. I proceeded to push it in.. no joy.. the trunk didn't open and the button it now stuck pushed in..

I found there's an emergency cable behind the drivers seat.. just needed to pull back some of the upholstery paneling.. ok, so that solves the immediate opening of the trunk lid..
And after removing some of the trunk upholstery I found there is no way to access that button.. I even took a small screwdriver and bent the end at a 90 and still could not pull the button out..

After many attempts, and a few choice words, no joy.. after more research I found a suggestion to push down on the lid while pushing the key fob trunk release button.. yay that works.. another suggestion was to adjust the bump stops was also janky as they appear to be froze..

so, I believe the button pushed in will do no harm, and the only way to address this is to remove the rear bumper.. soooo, I'm thinking the next oil change I'll get this addressed.. dang!

The rear license plate lights are on that same panel.. one would think there has to be easy access if even to change those bulbs.. Bummer..

any ideas?

OH MAN!.. did I ever screw up royally .. just did another query.. I suspected that's not a button to open the trunk lid.. its the back up camera!.. F'n AI had mentioned it was a release .. shit.. Oh well, live and learn! Dang!!!

Yeah, with these cars, there’s somewhat closed and really closed trunk hatch. If release button doesn’t work, best to push down like you did.

I was just about to say… never heard of a button near the trunk lol. If when you press the fob button and it’s firing, it’s likely the trunk actuator needs some alignment. It’s easy to remove the 2 or so screws and move it around to see if helps release the trunk
