Active Valve Control – Technical Overview

For the Emira platform, the MACH5 Active Valve Control is designed not only for sound control but also for long-term reliability and eliminating CEL triggering caused by the OEM vavle control.

The system incorporates a relocation design, moving the OEM valve control electronics away from the high-temperature exhaust environment. This addresses a known Emira issue where the OEM valve controller may experience thermal-related malfunction and cause CEL triggering.

The MACH5 system provides:

  • True 100% open valve operation where as OEM only opens 45 degress even in Track mode.
  • Elimination of heat-related valve faults

I have the downpipe, exhaust, valve controller, charge cooler and input pipe. Haven’t installed the input pipe or charge cooler.

I removed the valve controller because I missed having OEM functionality. Their valve controller is either 100% opened or 100% closed.

Downpipe really doesn’t produce any CEL which is nice and enhances the factory burbles.

Exhaust is pretty well made but the way they oriented the valve on the exhaust required I extend the factory harness if I kept wanting to use the factory valve motor. Ask them about that before you purchase if you decide to not use their valve controller. The trunk does feel cooler than before using the heat wrapped exhaust (still warm)

Charge cooler looks to be a bar and plate intercooler and larger than factory. I’m still deciding if I want to tackle the install myself or just give it to my dealership to do it.

When you say 100% closed...is that even drivable? Doesn't the exhaust need to be at least partially open?

100% closed exhaust valve just diverts the exhaust gas a different, quieter way through a silencer - so it's not like it blocks the exhaust. But this is still restrictive so having the valve closed all the time is bad for the engine at higher revs long term.
