Thanks for the detailed listing. However, I wanted to clarify what you used the 6mm allen "socket style" wrench for? I'm assuming you used it for the oil sump drain plug? If so, I think it's important to note it is in fact a T40 Torx bit and not an allen wrench. I'm assuming you leveraged an allen wrench because you didn't have the Torx bit? Just sharing so others don't get confused.Just finished my 1k oil change, so easy! Here are some pics, plan about 90 mins. You don't need to remove the diffusor, the metal panel is slid backwards to remove the front from the dovetail, then forward to slide it out. Great news that I cut my filter apart and only minor, small metal flakes.
Tools:
7mm socket
10mm socket
6mm allen wrench (socket-style recommended, easier than using an allen wrench)
Impact drill
27mm short socket (for oil filter housing)
Funnel
Consumables:
Filter + housing o-ring
Drain plug compression washer
7qts oil
As I recall it was for the drain plug. Yours may be a torx, but if you look at the closeup of my drain plug it is a standard allen.Thanks for the detailed listing. Thanks for confirming and obviously you saw yours "in person" (so, I'm sure you are correct), but in your pic, it looks like a Torx bit. I'm curious, for anyone else that has done the oil on their "i4 Turbo" Emira, Standard allen or torx bit for your drain plug?

Well the good news is, if you don't have the Torx bit, apparently a 6mm allen wrench socket style is a great compromise "in a pinch".Looking at your photo, yours is definitely a Torx too.![]()
Just wanted to step in and say thanks... I've decided to do this on my own. Has anyone DYI the first service and inspection?
Definitely have a spare ready. Also, it seems that when new, a 6mm hex head socket may in fact be the better tool to remove/install the oil sump drain plug (even though it is a Torx head). In any case, have that spare ready because it is absolutely over-torqued from the factory.As posted up above, I, like others have undertaken the oil and filter change. May I suggest you obtain a new spare sump drain plug and washer to have handy. The factory installed plug it appears, is tightened beyond reason and a number of people have ruined the ridiculous Torx key way. Even better, obtaining an external hex head plug (as pictured in a pst above) removes any future damage.
Regarding warranty, if you have an acquaintance who has a mechanics qualification and is prepared to observe and sign a declaration that all work using genuine parts (filter obtainable via Mercedes), then your warranty has a better chance of staying intact.
