At the Members Meeting at Goodwood today.

Gordon Murray’s GMA T.50, with a Cosworrh V12 revving to 11,500, followed by Bruno Senna driving his uncle’s McLaren V10 and a string of other 1990s V10 F1 cars.

Gordon Murray said Colin Chapman was one of his inspirations. He also said he designed the T.50 because no one had built a successor to the McLaren F1.

Enjoy the sound! ❤️🏎

Definitely the best noise of the day. And love the functional design of that era of F1 cars.

It’s MP 4/4, the 1988 championship winning car.

Edit: My mistake, it's MP4/5B - he drove MP 4/4 at last year's meeting.

Are you sure? That front wing, body cowling radiator outlet and rear wing screams 4/6 to me. I'm still wagering my $$ on that

That sound is therapeutic, like an ocean wave or rain in a forest. Truly special

I've checked the entry list and there were four McLaren F1 cars there. MP 4/5B was used on track by Bruno Senna (and in the paddock when not used) as well as MP 4/7-8. MP 4/6 and MP 4/20 were on static display in the paddock. So if you think the still pic is MP 4/6 it probably is. The video is definitely MP 4/5B just after the T.50.

Agreed-- the one being driven looks like the 4/5B and is not the one on display above

Wow. Brings back memories of my childhood (watching F1 races on t.v.). Great post @TomE.

They’ve just published the onboard footage from Bruno Senna driving the McLaren MP 4/5B. The noise! OMG! ❤️ (and the GMA T.50 ahead of him isn’t hanging about either). Look closely and you’ll see me grinning like a lunatic above the pits ;) )

This should be a controlled substance. That ladies and gentlemen, is the glory of the ICE era; a screaming V12 and a manual transmission. Sigh.... I'll have to watch this more than once.

It’s a very special event. So much access to the cars, drivers, owners and mechanics. Lots of rare cars and some really close racing.

I didn’t think to start a thread about attendance, it would have been good to meet fellow forum members. I’ll start one for Festival of Speed.

Did you read about Steve Griffiths, the owner and driver of the Jordan-Peugeot? He’s been fighting to get it ready for the event and has had to maintain a 1990s Compaq laptop too, as it’s the only way to interact with the car‘s ECU!

One never gets tired of seeing (or hearing) F1 cars from that era! Now when you couple that with a GMA T.50 that is a whole new ball game...

Unfortunately, Formula 1 is not same any more, which is rather sad. Driver talent is abundant but the cars have lost their appeal.

I’ll definitely be going in 2023 and should have just had my Emira delivered 😎. Wow that laptop takes you back.. I plan to be at the Revival later this year, HAC Concours and a Brands Hatch historics event in July, oh and Le Mans Classic. A very special day.
