The Lotus Car Care plan looks like it gives you access to Lotus Assist. I've been using Lotus Assist for my recent breakdown in the Arctic, the Lotus Assist part of the recovery has been pretty good to be fair although they really just put you through to other agencies. Once I was dealing with AA Recovery Europe they got most things sorted out but it was all authorised in the end by Lotus Assist. I couldn't see anything about wiring looms not being covered?
I've just spoken to Lotus Silverstone about this. Like most dealerships, they are still in the process of finalising this extended warranty as they have only just been informed of it by Lotus. I pointed out that "wiring and connectors" not being covered does not make much sense - how can you repair a car when many issues involve wiring and connectors? I've asked them for clarification on this. Hopefully they are able to given some clarity on this in January when they start selling the warranty.Wiring connectors and fuses.
I'd be worried about "LED Lights" too, given the price of replacement headlamps and tail lamps.....I've just spoken to Lotus Silverstone about this. I'm not so keen on the Jon Seal and Oakmere warranties due to the £5000 per incident limit. After my `adventures` I've seen how much some spare parts are for the Emira and I don't think £5000 is enough cover.
It's a bit rubbish that Lotus have left this so late to get out to the dealerships as many FE cars are now out of warranty. I just hope I don't have any issues before January - or looking for the silver-lining as my Emira will be in the workshop the whole of January for a replacement door maybe I don't need the warranty to start until February anyway.
OakmereSo-do any of them cover replacement of the lights???
Oakmere appear to.So-do any of them cover replacement of the lights???
Oakmere cover doesn't exclude them like the Lotus/Car Care one does.I'd be worried about "LED Lights" too, given the price of replacement headlamps and tail lamps.....
All require you to take out before manufacturer warranty expires otherwise you must pay for an inspection to ensure everything is OK. This is pretty standard and I know Porsche won't issue an extended warranty if it hasn't been serviced by them, they the require an inspection and any faults to be corrected before they'll take the car on.I've just spoken to Lotus Silverstone about this. Reading the terms they sound quite outdated assuming a bulb alone can be replaced and not covered. I cannot see reference to light clusters as covered?Oakmere
Oakmere appear to.
I get why a bulb would not be covered, I see those as consumables, but why on earth would the unit not be covered?Reading the terms they sound quite outdated assuming a bulb alone can be replaced and not covered. I cannot see reference to light clusters as covered?
This is under NOT covered:
"light bulbs and units;"
Cost, £0000,s to replace. They are no longer considered consumables but are excluded from 3rd party warranties. Crazy.I get why a bulb would not be covered, I see those as consumables, but why on earth would the unit not be covered?
I'm assuming you mean the Unit is 000's, not the bulb ?Cost, £0000,s to replace. They are no longer considered consumables but are excluded from 3rd party warranties. Crazy.
Yes, you can't change the LEDs.I'm assuming you mean the Unit is 000's, not the bulb ?
There is no longer any bulb - it's all sealed LEDs and you can't change these.I'm assuming you mean the Unit is 000's, not the bulb ?
Damn, thats going to be an expensive replacementThere is no headlight bulb

So referring to bulbs in the warranty is a bit out-of-date but it's probably a generic contract - and I assume "unit" means the headlight assembly is not covered at all.
