I contacted them over eBay and they made a custom neck attachment for us - let us confirm the product actually works and is awesome and I'll send the manufacturer a note that others want to purchase. I should be installing it later this week.

If this works well and we want a custom mounted camera solution, I am happy to make them out of carbon fiber or f-glass if someone want to design the STL for it. My 3D modeling skills are out of my wheelhouse. However, I do a lot of hobbyist composites. Making a mold and a housing for these cameras will be fairly simple.

Please keep me in the loop if these work and people want composite housings. If not, I will make a one-off piece.

I am about to take apart my care in about a month (once @Aerie is able to deliver the slew of parts I ordered) and will remove the rear bumper and do all the upgrade work I have planned at one time.

I am willing to give this mirror a try as well, if you would like to let me know how to order one.

This weekend finally had some sun but it was still 32F outside. I decided to test out the Korean digital mirror. I removed stock rearview mirror and mounted up digital mirror. Taped the camera to the upper rim of license plate frame under stock rearview camera and roughly ran the camera wire into cabin through passenger window from outside. Hooked up positive power and negative ground of the digital mirror to a spare Antigravity Lipo battery i had laying around from the 4C. This is only a digital mirror, not a smart mirror with dashcam capabilities. But mirror UI is easy and image looks clear with great refresh rate.

Note: I didnt complete full install on Saturday as it was super chilly outside and I didnt want to spend time dropping the rear diffuser (again for the 25th time) and remove the rear bumper to install camera and do wire routing as well as replace rear vents with CF ones and replace exhaust tips.

Distance of the Lexus is about 15 feet behind Emira:

Digital mirror has green reticle for up/down adjustments so if you mount camera high or low. If you plan on mounting to left or right of stock camera, slight axial rotation adjustment may be needed to center focused view as mirror does not have left or right adjustment.

@meesterover I'm guessing this would be more successful if you show a finished installed product and a DIY (similar to Silent Cilantro's MagSafe Charger, DarkWork's parking brake re-location kit, etc.). I know Kaz and Dacron are working through theirs. So, you'll likely learn a lot through them.

For me, I will not spend $959 for the mirror...most likely. If decide to splurge on it and make a custom mount for the camera, then i will hand the group buy responsibility to another person.

I will likely give it 1-2 weeks to see if there is enough interest in a group buy. If not, I will suck it up and order one for myself.

You can just buy the off the shelf kit you found on eBay and order the Volvo mount (apparently close to ours?) and the only custom piece they created was the mirror stalk attachment adapter...which in theory you could remove from your stock mirror and 3D print pretty easily I think. The standard kits are around $400? $450? IIRC. If you didn't want to wait I would probably do this. And upon receiving the kit and realizing that small piece is the only custom portion of the kit we would of course have much preferred to pay less lol, but the vendor was super cool and great to work with. My install is this coming Tuesday I will post if any snags but not expecting any, the feedback from Docron when he test ran his was very positive -

That is the best path forward. I tried asking them that question, but they would not answer me (I asked 3 times, I should have translated to Korean most likely).

Do you have a pic of this piece?

I am still game for making some composite camera mounts that have an OEM look, if someone with 3D modeling skills wants to help. If not, I will cut templates and use a hot wire to make it (going very old school). 3D printing a prototype mount would be much easier though.
The price for the Lotus mirror is the absurd part. They are likely receiving $350 net after ebay fees. Even $499 direct purchase is overpriced IMO.

Now that @Kaz shared that info, I am going to try this.

I will order this Volvo kit, especially since the seller covers return shipping should it not work.

I will post to the Group Buy thread as well. This is $418 + $34 shipping (instead of $90 they sent to me on the invoice) and minus the 7.5% PayPal / Currency Exchange fees.

Honestly, that could easily be mold and made out of forged carbon fiber.

Curious, do you have any experience making silicon molds, then producing a plastic part from the silicon? If so, you could easily replicate that part in plastic.
Or could you possibly use this to make a scan of it?

I see Kaz was going to ask if there was any Homelink capability for this new mirror kit (posts 13 and 14 on the thread). I note lower right buttons in the above photo taken by docron, but don't know if they link to a garage door opener (and if so, how many doors?), or serve some other function. What did you find out Kaz or docron?

I note that 675430VME comments in thread post #5 that this replacement mirror can be easily converted back to a "regular mirror" with the touch of a button. Perhaps that explains the function of one of the 3 lower buttons in the photo? I'm assuming this is all the same camera/mirror L2LOGIC set-up from Korea?

Do we know if both the "camera mirror" and the "regular mirror" on this L2LOGIS system, have auto dimming functions for night driving?

Getting a photo of a night view of the "camera mirror" showing traffic behind with headlights, would be a nice addition to this thread (dimmed and not dimmed, if possible). I did look at the manufacturer website video but it seemed to show rain (daylight situation?) in a city (night with street lights?) set-up, versus a pitch dark set-up.

Once the rear bumper camera mount issue is figured out, this looks to be a well thought-out solution for Emira rear-view camera capability.
