What did you do to your Emira today?

I got it washed and the ppf touched up last night. Odo is at 280 right now. I also got in some infill paint so Im going to paint the shift pattern in tonight or tomorrow. Gotta get some miles in this weekend.
 
Have the carbon front lip painted in gloss black to match the rest of the car. Also trimmed the edges of the lip to have the same curvature as the weel arches.

Mods are definitely a slippery slope. Mine has been pretty minor compared to my Evora

With a dark car (Verdant green) Full PPF was a must
Barkes a bit too dirty and grabby. Hawk brake pads is the fix
I want to see that shifter mechanism. Floating console looks nice
Car not daily driven. Battery voltage tracker.
Exhaust is nice but could be better. GRP downpipe with Milltek valve controller was and easy fix
Annoying touch sensitive steering wheel controls. Gotta get me some of the proper buttons

other than that, it is good;)
I'm right there with you with pretty much every item on that list... and similarly, this is me "being good" compared to the past 😆
 
So today decided to remove wheels and Adams Cermaic coat them and while doing that noticed all A Arms are
turning white oxadation and pitting some .. So took small Stainless steel wire brush and clean them and I ceramic coated
all suspension components...I think next time I will use Eastwoods Patina clear on all components..
Looks new again under there...

Almost finished planned mods/accessories:

-full wrap (PDF clear), PDF on center screen and door sills, and windshield protective film, plus ceramic coat rims
-soft car cover for winter storage

-Aerie V2 rims on OEM summer tires, for occasional track use (otherwise use OEM rims on all-seasons)

-e100 fire extinguisher mounted on back edge of driver seat
-“Lotus” valve stem caps (for each set tires)
-replaced OEM with black lug nuts
-replaced yellow hood badge and yellow tire center caps, with black
-ZL1 red tow hook w camera mount
-Raceseng shift knob (black alcantara with red stitch)
-had engine cover painted red
-GRP “Emira” windshield fluid cap
-Witimats red/black floor mats and trunk liner set
-GRP third cat delete and Millteck valve control
-replaced OEM illuminated “puddle light” with “Emira” and shape of car
-added Alpine tweeters
-added Kicker 10” subwoofer
-sound insulation and sound absorbing foam, put inside doors, rear side panels, engine firewall, and base of rear storage shelf
-replaced OEM black seatbelt webbing with black/red dual striped webbing

Yet to come:

-ceramic coat entire car (detailer said to let PDF “cure” a year, to get best ceramic results)
-install Eventuri system already purchased from GRP (wait for warranty expiry?)
-splash guards, aka mud-flaps. Waiting to see what Greg (GRP) comes up with.

Plus whatever else looks interesting, based upon future Forum advice. My sincere thanks to members and Forum sponsors, for the great suggestions and, in some cases, invaluable install directions.
 
I upgraded the airbag and gauge surround to Alcantara thanks to @GRP. I really like the way it turned out. Looks much more cohesive to me now and feels much better. Those two pieces were about the only items that you see in the interior that were not wrapped in leather or Alcantara. Gerg's people did a great job. I was able to remove (most) of the yellow stickers from my Sunvisor's, or I would have asked him to have those wrapped also.

Maybe he would be up for a group buy on the Sunvisor's.

Cooling fluid spilled on the workshop floor where my Emira had been positioned.

Today Saturday May 10 I brought my (i4) AMG M139 engine Emira First Edition to the most experienced tuning, racing, workshop BSK In Tokyo, Japan run by Mr. Teruhiko Kobayashi.

The main purpose was to have a set of JQ Werks paddles bought from Gresracingparts installed. This means a full removal of the Emira steering wheel including airbag, and it is not a job for the faint hearted because of all the detailed disassembly and reassembly indtructions; and this was a first time to do this process on an Emira. It all turned out well, and Kobayashi-san took all precautions and managed to achieve a perfect satisfactory result in about 2 hours.

However after driving my Emira out of the BSK workshop, that was full of all generations of Elise and Exige, some of them as a full tear down and rebuild, and also some in full track-ready race spec, it was discovered that where the front end of my Emira has been positioned, there were several splashes of pink-colored cooling liquid. Obviously my car quickly became a “suspect”.

A phone call to LCI (Lotus Cars International - Japan, a bare 15 minutes drive from BSK,requesting a quick check of the coolant reservoir, and any trace of leaks, if my Emira resulted in a “clean bill of health” and a full reservoir and no signs of any leak.

It remains a mystery where the patches of pink cooling liquid on the workshop floor had originated from.

I intend to write a separate “first impressions” text of he JQ Werks paddles in my Dual Clutch Transnission (i4) with AMG M139 (this is so far the lower 360 / 365 hp spec for Europe and Asian countries. (I am hoping for a “bump” when some bright minds working on this subject will release an upgrade. And this may not be limited to 400 hp ;-) How far one decides to go should be limited to whether the dual clutches also get upgrades (means a rebuild of the gearbox). So cost limitations may limit the realistic choice to something within 420 hp like Mercedes AMG is delivering in their own car models.

The short version of my first impression of the JQ Werks paddles (Madtrace) is that they greatly enhance the tactile interface that a driver feel when manually shifting the DCT gearbox. This greatly enhances the feeling of joy when driving in manual mode.

I realize that as long as the OE smallish metal paddles without any distinctive “click” remained in the car, the desire to switch over from automated to manual mode was lackluster, and I tended to just drive the car as “an automatic” without interacting directly with the shift mechanism.
The JQ Werks paddles changes all of this, and they directly encourage the driver to interact with the manual mode, because it feels so much more fun.

Kudos to JQ Werks and to Gregsracingparts (GRP) for designing, manufacturing, and promoting this very engaging concept. It is a very cost-effective upgrade at about US$350. I was charged roughly US$115 for the labour and knowhow intensive, precision installation, which I felt was very reasonable, especially since I witnessed the entire process together with our own Virtualmacho who also provided significant input by his own technical understanding, and his ability to real time interpret/translate the Gregsracingparts into native Japanese language.

Today was a great day with a great result; and luckily it seems my Emira is not leaking cooling fluid after all.

LCI(ロータス・カーズ・インターナショナル・ジャパン、BSKから車でわずか15分)に電話し、冷却水リザーバーの簡単な点検と漏れの痕跡のチェックを依頼しました。私のエミラは「健康診断書」に合格し、リザーバーは満タンで漏れの兆候もありませんでした。

ワークショップの床に付着していたピンク色の冷却水がどこから来たのかは、いまだに謎です。

Paint fully corrected and car Ceramic Coated. Removed the wheels today and they are being ceramic coated inside and out.
Will be doing the GRP 3rd Cat Delete tomorrow and the Milltek valve controller.
