I've been around the Lotus world for 20+ years when I got my 05 Elise.
It is interesting seeing people go through Emira acquisition, wait list, ownership and teething problems that harken back to the Elise/Evora days. It is justifiably frustrating to buy a car and have it have issues (and yes Emira seems to have more than it's fair share.)
BUT...we do also have a lot resources. From people here who are savvy and can fix things themselves to a cottage industry around the Lotus brand for repairs, mods and parts. So I want to give a shout out to people who answer and help. But also to point out resources for those new to the Lotus brand who may not know of them.

--BOE in Kansas City...They've been around since Elise came to the US, did their own supercharger and a lot of mechanical parts. Good crew and very knowledgeable. It's good to have a shop in middle America when one is far from dealers.
--GRP. I don't know how many times I've called Greg to ask a question about a part and process and he's taken time to guide me and help with an install.
--The forum membership knowledge hive as a whole...
--Who else?

I get it, it is scary for all of us to be driving around and wondering if today is the day we get left on the side of the road in a cloud of vapor. But we have resources, Toyota mechanicals, Volvo electrical bits in the cockpit which means parts aplenty (even if the next rumor of the demise of Lotus come true!) More importantly people who can hold hands and guide us to get things fixed.

Just a thought...

The only part of the car that concerns me if Lotus did go broke are body panels. Pretty much everything else can either be sourced from another manufacturer (volvo/toyota etc) or after market improvements.
 
Exactly the same concern with the Elise and the last few times Lotus nearly went broke :). There are aftermarket clams and there are places that make engine/electrical bits.
A large part of worry is being too far from a dealer, dealers that have other very expensive halo brands (Bently/Lamborghini) and thus a high shop hourly rate (i.e. high cost of oil change in some places.) Wanted to point that there are accessible resources out there who will be around for a long time. Even if Lotus fails (which it wont.)
