Lightweight battery

I'm considering a lightweight lithium battery from Amazon too. Seem like they have good reviews in general and less than half the price of antigravity.

While this statement is generally correct, that doesn’t mean that all the Chinese batteries are the same. My previous job had me visiting potential suppliers of products in China. Some were very good and some were absolutely atrocious. The problem was/is that it is almost impossible to tell from a website which camp the potential supplier is in. I’ve visited companies that I thought would be good, to find they were abysmal and vice versa. My point being, unless you’re going to fly over and visit the different suppliers, then you don’t really know what you’re going to get or what level of support you’ll get if something goes wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with Chinese manufacturers, but I’d want some background and evidence of the quality of the product and service. That doesn’t just mean sending an email to them. I’d be looking to see what distributors they had in my country, how reputable those distributors are, how long they’ve been selling the product, what standards can the distributer confirm the product complies with (don’t go on what the supplier/website says), how many have they sold in your country and what does the distributor offer in terms of after sales support.

I had a similar job and similar experience. Basically if the Chinese supplier had previously supplied a multinational / OEM they had likely implemented ISO9000 and had the necessary controls in place to ensure a quality product. If not, you were really taking your chances. It was difficult to tell the difference without a site visit. Comically photoshopped factory pictures were one give away.

I’ve had both the H6 on my Evora and the t6 on my Emira. The h6 was def too tight so I’m glad they made the change. The t6 is just right. I’ve never seen any movement on it; it’s been quite sturdy
H6/48 "def too tight" meaning impossible to fit? I can't seem to find very many economical choices in the T6/L2 size.

Not impossible just very tight. The most annoying part was when I had to do work on the car, you can’t just disconnect the negative terminal as it’s too tight. You need to unbolt the tray the battery it sits on etc

Got it, so what you are really saying is it fits perfectly. However, if you are a person who likes to "tinker" and needs to disable electronics, you need to unbolt the battery retainer plate and slide it out to undo the neg. terminal. Whereas, if you get a shorter battery, you can just squeeze a wrench/ratchet in to loosen?

Yeah that’s right. To be clear too, it was tight fit on my Evora GT. No idea if the battery tray is exactly the same for the Emira. Assuming yes given the rest of the car though

Isn't the Group 48 battery the same size as stock battery?

I got this one from Amazon and the fit was right on, not too tight or too loose, same group size as stock. Hopefully it will not let me down.

I decided to get it before tariffs kicked in. Not sure if it's still available at the same price now. So far, the car has not acted like anything was changed.

@cedricchew I'm curious as well. This is almost a standard mod for all of my cars, but I know car electronics can be finicky. So, curious if all has run well over the last 3 weeks?

Certainly adds lightness to your wallet at those prices. Not sure even the most skilful of test drivers would notice a 12kg difference, but if you’ve got the spare cash, then why not I spose 😂😂
I was about to ask how much, but held back when I saw this lol

There has been no discernible degradation in battery performance so far, I'm happy to report.

The price was under $300, which isn't much more than a conventional lead acid battery.

I didn't have to replace the original battery, and the weight savings will likely make no difference to handling and acceleration for most drivers.

I would like to think that Mr. Chapman would have approved, though.

Just wait till you kill your stock and then replace with this. Looks like they are currently running $319 on Amazon. If you wait till you need to replace anyways then you are really only paying the premium over a regular AGM which looks to be about $120 right now. Plus in theory these last longer than AGM so you can probably justify it that way too.

Very nice. The quality of the battery is of more concern to me than the price. This is a great data point considering what the antigravity batteries trade for. They are a great product, but prices continue to creep up. They were never cheap, but once they broke $1k, they started approaching OEM Lithium pricing.

This my number point on this …. I want to save a few bucks just like the next guy but Lithuim battery fires are SCARY and too common. I’d rather spend much more on a solid product that has protection from thermal runaway

@Blackthought_ Totally agree. With that said, I'm keeping an eye on the reliability of these Amazon batteries. for a few months of usage.
I've had the Antigravity in my E-type Jag for over two years now, and despite the Lucas wiring, the car hasn't gone up in flames yet (it's come close, but not the fault of the battery). I am more concerned about the different charging requirements of the lithium battery vs. lead acid. It seems like the alternator output stays elevated at times, nearly maxing out the voltage gauge even though the alternator has been examined and repaired.

@cedricchew For sure, I've had three different Antigravity batteries in 3 different cars. They are bulletproof. I was referring to the reliability of your most recent Amazon battery. If it holds up (long-term), it's a steal at the current price.
