We have finalized the design and are in production with our new Emira harness bar the QUADloc. This bar is the most innovative solution available offering easier fitment, adjustability for driver size, light-weight, full access to the rear shelf and most importantly a safe package for the weekend warrior. We created this info sheet to provide a bit more insight into the QUADloc design.
The two main attachment points, for the QUADloc, bolt our bar into the factory rollbar. This is the same location that the stock OE 3pt belt uses - so is safe and crash tested. The B-pillar is essentially this rollbar. Anti-rotation is critical in a design like this. We are using 4 points to prevent our bar from rotating - hence the name, QUADloc.
Our Primary Anti-rotation Mechanism, non-permanently, secures to the B-pillar and is bolted to the QUADloc with a 1/2" bolt. This mechanism are two large Delrin rods that uses a cam action to help you fine-tune the fit to the B-pillar. Our Primary Mechanism is enough to prevent rotation but we've added a clever Secondary Mechanism. We are utilizing the rear car seat anchor points to tether our QUADloc with additional anti-rotation. We don't know of anyone who has used these anchors in this manner. The Emira has an ambidextrous chassis so they put these car seat anchors on both sides of the car onto the rear firewall. These are crash tested and designed to take significant loads. We use both sides.
Installation can be a challenge with fixed bars so our internally-sleeved, split design offers an easier install. We think this will save plenty of you from a potentially frustrating installation. The bar will ship easily and cost effectively as the box is much smaller.
Our bar is also height adjustable. This is important as we all have different torso lengths. Not all of us are average so adjustability keeps us safer. Getting the correct angle is critical from a safety perspective. See Schroth's recommendation.
We spent a fair amount of time analyzing and peer reviewing our solution. Though we have engineered many other harness bars, we recruited two other Mechanical Engineers, Schroth's US distributor and several Emira owners to review this bar for safety and functionality. Everyone is happy with the design and feel it is an appropriately safe solution. Some called it over-engineered.
We know this bar deviates from the norm so the peer review added to our confidence in this solution.
We are running a sale on the bar until they come into stock - expected by early/mid Sept. We are producing the QUADloc here in Temecula, CA and weighs approx 10lbs. Order yours: HERE
Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. We feel this should be welcome to those of you looking for ways to have more fun with your Emira.
