I4 Turbo Trans Update

I've done it without even using the brake if in neutral just hold the paddle shifter.+ I had one review guy argue with me and tell me if was wrong. I told him I own one and do it all the time. So I made this video to prove it..

Thanks, I never knew about this function, will use that in future.

It hasn’t happened too often, but occasionally I’ve had issues going into drive from park using the central gear selector. Have others had that? It’s definitely not something I’m doing.

Yes i have had that happen randomly. I find cycling it into reverse fixes it immediately.

Can you confirm if you can do power startup by holding the paddle shifter + or - when you start the engine like MB A45S did?
We lost that function in one of the updates and Boomgear is trying to reactivate for his tune but can't seem to find where it is embodied

In Mercedes amg cars you can hold the paddle shifters down to Open the exhaust valve durning start up. Think it's called the emotion startup ....

I remember reading something posted by a supposed mercedes ecu engineer on Reddit that said they removed that due to EU emission regulations

That's right, rpm will raise higher and exhaust with burble during start up.

Emira Turbo has it from the factory and was removed from one of the early updates.

Guys there's an easy fix for that what you do is you hold the start button down without putting your foot on the brake and it turns everything on you can then switch to any mode you want touring, sport, or track. Simply choose track at that point and when you start it will start up in that mode.

Thanks for the tip (y)

I would put the car in park at the lights sometimes, but been caught a couple of times unable to get it into drive:LOL:

Took my i4 in for a software update today and I dropped by the sales office to get the latest gossip. 2026 i4 will start arriving in a few weeks and the DCT remap will be available for existing owner once those have gone through PDI. Otherwise no news on new engine options and probably won't be till the investor call next Mar/Apr. Lotus probably also have enough V6 to last through 2026 now that sales have slowed down due to the economy.

Did they have any specifics on what the DCT remap gives you? Trying to understand if it's the one we got in the UK earlier in the year or something new.

  • Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT): Recalibrated for faster, smoother shifts and better driver interaction (on the 4-cylinder).
This is new to the 2026 model. all current US i4 already have the latest update from early 2025 since delivery did not start till Feb 2025.

Hi Wiz33, I picked up my car Dec 24 in the US, was there a trans update in 2025? thanks

I had a DCT update in April 2025 which was to address the slow R-N-D shifts plus improve overall manual shift responsiveness. I wonder if this is the same or something new on top? It still feels like there is room for improvement on shift responsiveness - especially on the down shift. Has anyone had a further update in the UK?

The one you have was developed in the endo f 2024. This one was developed for the 2026 so none of the current i4 have it.

I'm on the west coast so my car did not arrive till endo Jan and I didn't pick it up till early Feb but the update was released before the end of 2024 so you should have it if you don't have the ~1/2 second delay from between when you pull the paddle to the actual gear change.

Ahh, yes our cars arrived at the same time. Don't notice an delays, pretty snappy.
Only DTC update I'm waiting for is the double tap for reverse to be changed to single tap.
