From what source did you pull the input for the DSP?
I plan to run new speaker out wires from my Audion Bit 8.9. I take it the OEM head unit does not have RCA or optical output, correct?
In the past, I had to pull it from the existing speaker wires to the OEM amp.

Initial impressions of my straight speaker swap is that the mid/high's were pretty good from factory (obviously better now) and the mid-bass is MUCH better. It seems like the Low/Mid/High eq is basically tied to the rear/door/a-pillar, so there's some sort of x-over in the head unit or factory amp.

If the eq was a 10-band instead of the 3-band I could probably make it work, but the low end need some tuning so the only/best option from here is an amp/dsp. I'm tempted to install a 6 channel but I have a hunch I'll still want an 8-inch sub, so 8-10 channel it is. Also, I can max out the volume and it's not super loud, so need some help form an amp.

I assume it's going to be a pain in the ass wiring this thing in, so I'll wait a while. If I get lucky and the factory amp is in the rear PS area (where the amp/dsp/sub will go), then I can basically splice in the dsp/amp (run all wires to the amp/dsp and then tap right back into the speaker wires)...that would be nice.

Keeping things as is for now because I drive with the windows down a lot.

That is a pretty easy task if there is a wiring schematic. Is there a wiring schematic for the non-KEF system?

I will do my stereo upgrade in August and post the info when done.

there is no dedicated outputs from the headunit. i also purchased the audsion bcon unit to get best available sound from bluetooth etc

Nice find. My first time learning about the bcon. That sounds like a MUCH simpler install.

Can you help me understand exactly how you use this?

I am guessing you have your phone stream to the bcon instead of using the connection through the head unit, correct?

Do you use an iphone with CarPlay?

I am trying to understand the exact configuration and user experience. The bcon sounds like a path to much higher sound quality.
Hacking up the wires for the Audison DSP input is a reason why I did not upgrade the speakers in our other cars. I have done that in the past to three vehicles already, and it is a major chore. This is a game changer for me.

tried, 6, 8 and 10 inch sub enclosures that fit neatly behind the driver seat and the only one thats worth the effort is the Hertz Mille Pro MPBX 250 S2 10" Shallow Subwoofer Enclosure. this was the only thing that was able to punch at a decent level, the other subs were very average sounding.

yes the bcon is attached to my audisson forza dsp amp, it acts as a separate source. you connect via it via your bluetooth on the iphone when you start playing on iphone you will get option to select the bcon as well as using car play. the difference is pretty apparent when you change your streamer to bcon.

i bought a dap recenlty to check out the LDAC codec that audisson talk about more in their splurge and can state that bass response is better through android. i am mainly an apple user so bcon defintely helps but am impressed with the android.

for the sub i listed the exact model i purchased above. i did not go custom route as i believe there is good space at the rear of car to use this. as stated i tested a number of subs and by far this model is the best.

yes i said the bass came across better via android device and the use of LDAC with bcon. it is NOT night and day difference but if you enjoy high quality audio at home and in the car you notice it. would i give up apple car play on a daily basis the answer is NO i would not, i bought the dap for the emira to test out LDAC i wont give up apple/carplay, but i dont mind switching between both streamers in the emira. i rely on carplay on my daily driver (FL5) which has bcon etc installed and very much an apple user.

my system was calibrated with mics etc attached to driver seat and ear height and my system is very much focused on the driver which 99% of the time is me!
